Default Hmmm, maybe with this, we'll actually really do away with HiDef discs

The scientists who pioneered it have now built a lightning-fast replacement capable of downloading entire feature films within seconds.

At speeds about 10,000 times faster than a typical broadband connection, “the grid” will be able to send the entire Rolling Stones back catalogue from Britain to Japan in less than two seconds.

Unlikely to replace anything just yet since it may not even be available commercially...maybe someday.

That will be quite a while... there are a lot of places just getting fiber optic upgrades. And there are still areas where DSL isn't available.

It's gonna take several years before digital downloads can become a compliment to high def discs. What do I do when I download albums in the MP3 format? I take them and I drop them onto physical media. I'd say once HDM's come in a downloadable package that can be turned into a form of "burn your own Blu-ray" to where you take the package and drag and drop straight to a BD-R or RW, then we might see more interest in digital download HDM's.

Oh yeah, and it would help if they could be downloaded FAST!

Warming up to more every day, but I still love
(RED and BLU are great, but PURPLE is the way to be!)
