Wish Roger would come back. I wonder if he's been missing out on all these movies over the last year or if he's catching some at home on DVD now.

Not to be a jerk, but it's not accurate to list Star Wars as BD, since we all know Lucas has the power to dictate which format it comes out on (if it ever does), not FOX.

At any rate, lots of great movies to sit back and wait for!

It's so funny when the dusty old AFI puts a movie like 40 Year Old Virgin in their lists. I just think of somebody who makes Peter O'Toole look young watching that shower head scene.

Indeed, but it is still distributed by Fox, a BD-exclusive studio, and it's probably about as fair to list it in blue as it is to list a bunch of those other titles in whatever color they're in. After all, it'll probably take a few years before every title on that list is available, by which time the war could be over anyway, so listing anything in a specific color if it hasn't been announced isn't completely accurate. However, it does give a useful general idea of how many movies on the list fall into either or both of the two camps to list them as they are now, so I think the list ought to stay as it is.

With Paramount no longer Bluray shouldn't this list be updated?

Default AFI's updated list of 100/100

Ok, I got the new list and updated the old one. I don't know if this needs it's own thread or not. If someone would be so kind as to fill in the new ones, that would be great! If any errors are spotted please feel free to let me know. Enjoy.

Updated for Paramount's change in dual format strategy and added some dates and studios.

Both = 35
Blu-Ray = 36
HD DVD = 27

3 Unknown
1 title gets counted twice because it is BD in the US, HD in Europe.

The totals for RELEASED titles:
Blu-Ray = 8
HD DVD = 10
This includes Blade Runner since it's almost out and the ones that dropped off the new list (i.e. Mutany on the Bounty and Close Encounters).

I think AFI lost their integrity when they made Citizen Kane the #1 film.

If anything, the order should be

1. The Godfather
2. Casablanca
9. Citizen Kane
