Cool Vivid Readies First Adult Title for Blu-ray, HD DVD

Well, could this be the savior of the next-gen formats?

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...ay,_HD_DVD/329

Let's face it -- porn has always launched new formats, so wherever you sit on the fence morally, it is hard to deny that adult industry support will probably only be a good thing for both Blu-ray and HD DVD, at least in terms of mainstream acceptance.

Well it was a matter of time I suppose. I can't see porn having the same influence over this format war like it did over VHS/Betamax, especially nowadays where I imagine most is viewed on the internet.

Plus, in the case of porn, maybe too much detail may be unappealing...

I'm a little miffed that they didn't speak on the costs of HD DVD. Is it the same as the Blu-ray costs or cheaper. They didn't make that clear.

They will have to invent a new friction-resistant make-up for use on unsightly blemishes and the like.

There are Porn stars out there that dont need makeup. You just need to film the good looking ones. But if this helps move players I am all for it. More players = more standard movie purchaces. Also HD-DVD is suppose to be much cheaper to make disks for. I hope that it is the Porn disk of choice.

The costs of making the discs are cheaper but the actual cost of making a master in Hi-Def is around the same for both. Image has said the cost to produce a Hi-Def master is around $40,000 a title right now while DVD is at just a few thousand since the technology is more readily available and more people know how to use it.

Six months ago, the porn industry was ready to embrace Blu-Ray as the format of choice. The momentum behind HD-DVD though has seen the porn industry looking at hd-dvd much more seriosly now.

I hate to be the one to burst Vivid's bubble, but Digital Playground has released the first HD-DVD for a while now...somewhat. Although it is not on an actual HD-DVD, it is a video file on a DVD encoded using WMV-HD (VC-1) which supposedly is playable only on an HD-DVD player or a computer (and now the x360). If I am right, there are actually a couple of titles out like this. These movies were released before DP's announcement of BD adoption back in January.

LMAO!!

Sorry, but don't forget Island Fever 3 which was released a few days before. As far as I know, these are the first and only two titles, but they exist.

BTW, good theme going on here...
