'Girls Gone Wild' to hit Blu-ray, HD DVD this December

Get your wet T-shirts ready. The video vixens of 'Girls Gone Wild' are headed to Blu-ray and HD DVD this December in a first-ever next-gen compilation release.

The brainchild of self-proclaimed "Late Night DVD" pioneers Mantra Films, the 'Girls Gone Wild' series remains one of the most unstoppable (and widely despised) phenomenons ever to hit home video, with its raunchy no-holds-barred escapades raising the hackles of the moral majority as high as its sales.

Now Mantra has announced plans to bring the controversial series into the high-def era with the"greatest hits" compilation 'Girls Gone Wild: Sexiest Moments Ever 2 - Uncensored!', which the company will debut simultaneously on Blu-ray and HD DVD on December 11.

"Just as 'Girls Gone Wild' was one of the first to embrace the DVD format, we are once again on the cutting edge releasing true high definition videos in both the HD DVD and Blu-ray disc formats," Girls Gone Wild CEO Joe Francis said. "We share with our consumers the excitement of these incredible new visually stimulating formats, and are proud to be the first to provide both."

According to the press materials, 'Sexiest Moments Ever 2' promises to "take you to the hottest beaches, bars, and college dorm rooms for all the naughtiness that you’ve come to love from Girls Gone Wild."

Mantra says 'Girls Gone Wild' began shooting all of its content in High Definition two years ago, and has previously broadcast its Pay-Per-View shows in HD by InDemand Networks.

Both the HD DVD and Blu-ray versions of 'Sexiest Moments Ever 2' will include
1080 video transfers, and audio flavors in both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 surround.

The distributor has yet to indicate whether the two high-def releases will include any supplemental materials or other exclusive naughty bits, but we'll certainly keep you abreast if any additional specs are announced.

Suggested retail price for the next-gen versions of 'Sexiest Moments Ever 2' has been set at $24.95 apiece. (You can pre-order each at DVD Empire for $19.71 -- click the following links to pre-order the HD DVD or to pre-order the Blu-ray.)

never bought a girls gone wild... i like the hardcore ones... i might buy it as long as they don't add me to the autobuy list... (they do that with those tv infomercials)... who am i kidding... i can't resist... as long as there is some good hardcore scenes in there... When I seen the announcment I laughed then I seen your avaitor and thought of you, and I remembered a post I seen earlier you did and had to find your name cause I've seen you post befor and knwew you liked porn. Me I'm not gonna get it cause people at work always mess with me about hi-def porn. well they sell girls gone wild on amazon.com... and they only sell the softcore version of pirates on amazon and nowhere to be found are the other movies like lady scarface or island fever 3... + have you seen the girls gone wild? it is basically a college age movie where it focuses on alcoholism of college girls and doing retarded things in public like flashing and making out with each other and such... It can be the "marijuana of porn" however, in which it is widely available and could lead to the hardcore more taboo porn movies... now we need some more hd content on adult sites like adameve to feed these people after they get girls gone wild... I'm kind of mad at adameve at their selection (i have all six of their hd dvd offerings and i got them cheap thanks to coupons and specials that i posted)... I'm actually suprised it hit blu ray due to the difficulty of getting a production line to press them thanks to disney and their "no smut near our discs" policy(that makes me want to go to fye and put the playboy discs near the cars and rat movie thing displays... j/k)... it is good that they get into the blu-ray market because ps3 is loved by a lot of college and high school age people... ps3 effect could definitly go towards sales of this movie... could be good on hd dvd too, especially because of all the advertising that ggw gets on late night tv. hopefully the girls are hot which could lead as a gateway towards hardcore, which could bring the porn factor into the high def war, helping out hd dvd.

Don't get me wrong I love porno..but GGW is just boring. I mean who doesn't want to see college girl's b00bies...but after about the 50th pair you've seen in a span of 5 minutes....and then realize you have another hour to go in a typical ggw movie...you get bored fast.

i read up on this... i heard the rapist thing was a rumor that they were trying to get at him... he was charged with not checking ages properly on his videos (it's kind of hard on a mardi gras street) and was fined and jailed accordingly. he was also sued a few times for unlawful use of people on camera by not getting permission to film them. he is in one of those gray area video fields where it's not clearly porn, but then again it's not nessecarily for the kids to watch... this will be a big seller for sure just for the fact that it is pressed in people's faces across america... could even lead to palyer sales... because it will get blu ray and hd dvd into people's heads and get them thinking about the formats and as i said before it could be a gateway into the hardcore "designated porn" movies
