Default Has Hi Def impacted your standard buying??

Hi all. Sitting here and this popped into my head. Myself, I feel my standard dvd buying has dropped considerably. I no longer buy Universal/Fox standard def dvds, as I'm hoping they go format neutral. I'm so tired of double dipping on dvd's. I've invested a alot of money in DVD and re-purchased titles many times over. But all the same, I haven't bought a standard def movie (tv shows not included) in months it seems.

I wonder if many people are like me, how that's impacting studio $ale$ who don't release titles in hidef???

Yeah, my standard has dropped some mainly b/c I'm waiting for the HD DVDs come out. I had held off on Blu-ray studio movies hoping I would get a Blu-ray player soon but I've realized that isn't going to happen so I've started buying the SDs of those again.

Absolutely. I still but the occasional sub $5 release if it is not available on HD. They (SDs) still upconvert very well.

I almost never buy DVD's anymore. If something I want to watch is only on DVD with little chance of coming out in high def soon, I Netflix it.

Even more to the point, I recently boxed up 20 or so DVD's and sent them off to DVDplanet for store credit for buying high def titles.

Default dvdplanet store credit?

Wasn't aware of this as an option. I have plenty of movies to trade in lol. Thanks for the tip, I'll try them out.

I have just short of 300 sd dvds and "I" won't buy any more. The wife on the other hand, she just picks up the first thing that she sees. I cant wait till she comes home with a blue ray disk one day!(Then I'll have to go buy a player!)

The only SD DVD I purchased after going Blu was Borat. Everything else I can wait for until it comes out on BD.

The only SD discs I'm willing to buy now are ones from minor, independent studios. Non-mainstream films from Something Weird (Image) or other stuff of that sort. There have been movies from New Line like Little Children and The Number 23 and some from other studios that I would have normally purchased but I'm content with waiting until HD versions become available. I have had HD DVD since December and Blu-ray since January, and I think that I've bought about 6-8 standard DVDs since then.

Not really. I had gotten to the point where the only DVDs I was buying were television shows and collectors sets, like the just released Woody Woodpecker set from Universal. Still plan on doing this, as it will take years for such material to end up on hi-def, if it ever does.

Same here. Don't intend to either. Hot Fuzz will be tempting but I will just rent instead.
