'Departed,' 'Casino Royale' Nab Home Entertainment Award Honors

'The Departed' and 'Casino Royale' were the big high-def winners at this year's Entertainment Merchants Association's Home Entertainment Awards, announced last night at the Home Media Expo in Las Vegas.

'The Departed' scored with two awards, including HD DVD Title of the Year as well as DVD Rental Title of the Year, while 'Casino Royale' took home Blu-ray Title of the Year honors.

So The Departed wins HD DVD title of the year??? Wow, I really hated this movie and it's the biggest waste of my high-def dollar to date (well, that and Bable). Too predictible and very mind-numbing. Donnie Brasco is the superior 'rat' movie.
I was also very disappointed with Casino Royale. I was expecting an actual BOND film--->humour, cool gadgets, catchy one-liners, etc. But for Casino Royale, the best part of this film was only the card game and the airport sequence. Everything else in this was just one huge commercial for Sony; it was awful.
I have to say, I think these are very disappointing films as going down as titles of the year for their formats.

But just remember, this is my own opinion. Just don't tweak out on me if you feel differently about these. Thanks.

I thought Casino Royale sucked as well.I don't really like Bond as some dumb, brutish flat nosed guy who looks like a second rate prize fighter.
The highlight of the film was a foot chase and a poker game.
Big deal.District 13 did the chase better .
I want bond movies to be about giant laserguns on satellites attacking submarines full of hot big breasted babes for world domination dammit !

Casino Royale was the best Bond I've ever seen. The wacky Austin Powers villains and fantasy hardware was just getting way out of hand. It was so good to finally get a story that could actually happen in the real world.

And besides, I bothered to read Casino Royale before the movie came out. This time, they absolutely nailed the Bond character from the book. He really was that blunt instrument M talks about. The movie finally got it right.

I will agree...definitely didn't expect Casino Royal to get it, and definitely don't think it should have.

hmmm...casino royale #1 blu-ray... that makes sense cause its one of the like 10 blu-ray exclusive titles that are worth watching

No, I wasn't completely thrilled when I read that. But, we'll see what they do. I'll reserve judgment until I see it.
