LOL, ok. There needs to be a bit more threads on "My PS3 broke" before we're anywhere near that level.

Ouch damn...I had to send in my HD and mobo like 3 months ago for RMA ;_;

Strangely enough, my launch PS2 is still kicking.

Ouch, that sucks. What's the average turnaround time for PS3 repair anyway?

Well it's not just on this site but anecdotally at work it's becoming pretty common. Just saying, the famed 1% claim is kind of silly anway considering DRE and let's not discuss my up side down PS1.

OG Xbox, the most reliable tank of a machine eva lol.

Takes 5 days to send a box, so I imagine the turnaround time could be about 3 weeks. Also, the disc will sometimes be read by my PS3 it seems. You give it a couple of hours, start playing again, and it works. But then it froze, and I shut it off. Popped in a different game, and it no longer shows up on the XMB. I hope the Sony employees can figure that out. Clearly, my Blu Ray drive is on the verge of dying within a month or two, but it hasn't completely died yet.

EDIT: A letter regarding turnaround time says that it takes 5 business days give or take from the time they receive the PS3, so probably two weeks or less

When your disk drive failed, was it a gradual thing, or did it just die immediately?

Well I hope they get it back to you quickly. Any other systems to play in the meantime?

Nope. Just my laptop...also being sent in. Dell's turnaround time though is extremely quick, so I should get it by Friday. Then I can play strategy games all day....

Until then, I suppose I could boot up FFVII on the PS3 as it loads straight off the HDD.

Go get Stardust HD and go for the Shock and Awe trophy. That'll tide you over till the laptop gets back. (/Stardust pwns)

PSN hates me when it comes to adding funds to my wallet....so I'm too lazy to do that since I don't have SSHD.

It just happened. I was watching 30 Days of Night, Got about ten minutes in then it froze. I turned it on then off. Then the disk wouldnt load. My PS2 games would though for some reason.

That time frame is not the norm. I received my box in two days and had my PS3 back in 6 when my laser died.

For me, it was around 16 days, but it was an additional 5 extra for me because I was at school and had to go home to get it.

That sucks. My 40gb nonBC BD drive died but in warranty. I got the same unit back from Sony... but it was covered in scratches and pry marks when it returned
