I wonder why they don't just bite the bullet and slash the PS3's price to $350 instead.

Can you actually give me 1 single case where a developer taking part in Sonys new pub fund has resulted in their game being made available to fewer people like how Microsoft paying certain devs for exclusivity on titles which were going to be multiplatform has?

Even funnier is the fact that nowhere in my sig does the guy from Sony say anything other than the fact that HE prefers money going to new games than paying people to go exclusive. I simply agree with HIS statement. How thats confusing to you I dont know

Well, my reasoning is that it's money out of their pocket either way so they might as well support the newer system instead of the PS2.
Anyway, they have a plan I guess/hope

Talk about underwhelming news. I was kinda hoping for a big, new exclusive. Regardless, the PS3 is selling reasonably well and there are plenty of interesting games in the pipeline.

It tells me that Sony sees that the PS2's sales are in decline and if they are interested in continuing to sell PS2s (and indications seem to point to the idea that they indeed are), they need a price drop.

Though really what this does, it seems to me, is attempt to stall the inevitable decline of the PS2 in sales.

Maybe they should cut the price on the PS3 and keep the PS2 the same.
