Crysys question
Anyone know if crysys supports multithreading? Ive just put together a dual quad core for work purposes and figured Id see how it handles Crysys. Might as well check out if this visual marvel would run well on my new machine.

I believed they patched it.
I think when it released it wasn't fully compatible, or it had some errors. I know out of the gate Crysis just wasn't very "scalable".
Anyway...I would direct you to Hardocp.com. However, it seems to be going slow tonight. Perhaps, my connection just sucks. I'd try to check there. -

What kind of video card(s) did you get for your "work" computer? Also, how much ram are you running and what exact processor did you get?

Warhead probably supports multithreading and is quite scalable now. I wish they would go back and update Crysis to take advantage of all that they learned making Warhead.

9800gt, man that thing is supposed to be a beast. Cards like that will be great to sli in a year or two when they come down in price. I have an 8800gt and that thing, on it's own, is a destroyer on most games - can't imagine what yours will look like

Sorry to bring back an old thread but I purchased Crysis and played a good chunk. I can put most of the settings to Very High (except shadows) without it becoming a slideshow.
The game is a lot of fun so far. The stealth mechanics are interesting. However I have to state something... I'm not convinced it looks better then Killzone 2.
I mean Crysis does have incredible draw distances and the facial animations (especially lip synching) are better on Crysis, but beyond that, I was as blown away as I thought I'd be. Anyone else think this?Online name for 360, PSN and Steam - Snadinator

I have a sneaky suspicion that your opinion will be unpopular with most (especially the PC gamers) although you will gain support with the PS3 crowd.
I personally don't find this surprising - see RedRed and my disagreement with the quality of the facial animation in Half-Life 2. I didn't play it when it came out, so I can only really compare to what I expect of today. You're playing a game that is universally known as the best game graphically ever (or pretty much), but you're playing quite a while after the hype -

Whether Crysis (demo only) looks better than Killzone 2 depends on (a) the settings, and (b) what you're comparing.
If you're really playing Crysis on Very High without frame drops, then it keeps up with KZ2 in most ways. Resolution obviously, but also the textures are better, the geometry is way way way more complicated (leaves and trees and all that), there is much more interactivity, the areas are far larger and less linear, the main characters look better.
However, KZ2 does some things that Crysis just doesn't, at all. The enemies animate with frightening realism. The explosions look much better. There is environmental embellishment (weather effects are fantastic). The motion blur and gun models and all the post-processing effects are fantastic.
I think overall KZ2 might look better at what it set out to portray, but Crysis is much more ambitious in terms of what it's setting out to portray. It's just got much bigger, more complex (yes, that's right, I said it) gameplay areas, and it's way more interactive.Receiver: Denon 3808CI / Remote: Logitech Harmony 1

Funny guy, a 9800GT is about the same as an 8800GT. The 9X00 series was a rebadge, not a new architecture.
http://www.overclockersclub.com/revi...x_9800gt/8.htmWhen I got this XFX 9800GT video card, I wasn't expecting much more than a fancier looking 8800GT and that's pretty much what I found out during testing. Both cards use the same G92 core and sport the exact same specifications, whether it is the amount of stream processors or clocks, it's all the same. Therefore, performance wasn't only similar, but identical or within the margin of error.
@OP The system will play it just fine but don't expect to max it out. I would say medium settings around 50fpsCurrent Setup
