FFXIII Versus more of a standard FF RPG then FFXIII?

Some interesting comments from the new Dengeki:


* Final Fantasy Versus XIII for PS3 will be more like a traditional Final Fantasy game than FFXIII, in Versus XIII you travel across mountains, ocean, wandering in dungeons and battle with summon beasts and so on.

* Final Fantasy XIII will not be released for Xbox 360 in Japan.

* Final Fantasy Agito XIII for PSP will be released after FFXIII.

The FFXIII versus news is a bit surprising. I'd always thought it followed a more action RPG route but it sounds like that might not be the case.

Versus is the one I'm looking forward too the most out of the whole Fabula Nova Crystallis theme. I'm glad it is now even more RPG focused.

If Versus is more similar to a traditional FF, then I wonder how different FF13 will be from the FF games we knew

Interesting information, but since I apparently won't be playing Versus until the PS4 is coming out the news just upsets me. At least it's only a few months until XIII is here though. Do you think this will be the first generation that only 1 main FF title will be hitting the systems before the next gen consoles are starting to launch?

Ok, I'm confused about the differences between XIII, Versus, and Agito (not heard of this one yet). I'll admit I have been staying away from a lot of info until it's closer to release date, but I'm also limiting myself to avoid spoilers of any kind.

So, would you be kind enough to explain the game types they are suppose to be? All info I've had to this point was less XII and more VII-IX.

Finally, has it been confirmed or not that versus will not release for the 360?

Versus XIII is not intended for 360 as of now. They seem to reiterate this quite a bit. Seeing as it's a couple years away though, things could change. Anyways, Versus XIII is more like an action RPG a la Kingdom Hearts although it apparently has some of the traditional culture/style of FF.

FFXIII is kinda like XII in the sense that it's a open world, with monsters and everything but much more fast paced. It's trying to mix X and XII and amp up the speed. Agito is a portable game...with no concrete details really as far as I know.

Guess all there is to do now is wait for any technical differences in any multiplat releases to decide what system I'll get them for (as necessary).

First off there's no solid information on any of the games playstyles, this latest news pretty much throws an even bigger wrench into wtf they're supposed to be.

The information used to be

FXIII - tradiontal FF with some type of new active battle action movie'ish battle sequence
FFXIII: Versus - Action RPG
FFXIII: Agito - Cell phone RPG

now things are shaping up to be

FFXIII: Versus: Stated to be "more standard FF RPG then FFXIII, this includes, dungeons, summons, exploration"
FFXIII: Agito: - Shifted to PSP game

This puts a giant question mark to "WTF type of game is FFXIII going to be if it's not going to be a more standard FF game?"

And Versus is currently being confirmed as "only on PS3". There's an off chance it will hit 360 but considering how often we're starting to hear it as an exclusive, it's possible that Sony may have locked it following the FFXIII on 360 E3 announcement.
