I'm happy because I loved the art of Suikoden 1 & 2 and it looks like we might get more of that in at least the backgrounds...
I'm happy to be getting another suikoden... (and is that a young flik i see maybe?)
But i'm pissed because i'd love an HD suikoden, and part 5 seemed to be getting right what was wrong with 3 & 4 ( i liked 4 more than 3, most don't agree with me though).
On the bright side we'll likely get it much sooner.
Hopefully they're working on a console one...XBL: Phil Collins117

I really disliked Suikoden 4. Enough to sell the game, something I've only ever done with Silent Hill 4 as well. I actually enjoyed the whole Rashomon thing they had going in Suikoden 3, and really, really enjoyed the bonus ending if you got all 108 characters. It was a very different game from the previous two titles, but I enjoyed the chances they took with it, and I liked the characters. Geddo and crew really won me over over the course of the game.
Suikoden 4 just really irritated me for some reason. I guess part of it was I wasn't all that big on the mute hero again, particularly since I didn't find him likable, though I somehow found myself sympathizing with the prince in Suikoden 5. And the whole rivalry thing he had going with his best friend just annoyed me more and more as the game progressed. I guess Suikoden 4 just pushed a lot of wrong buttons for me. I wasn't as engaged in the story as I was in 3 or 5, and that cheap leveling room they gave you in the ship towards the end of the game was bit surprising. -

I agree 4 was flawed... and that rich piss ant best friend / rival thing blew... seemed like a hack attempt to recreate the Jowy scenario in Suikoden 2.
But 3 to me just felt souless as hell. I remember that big battle speach in the streets of town and I just recall being so unimpressed compared to the cavalier charge speeches in 1 & 2 with that theme music rocking. Plus the whole Fire Bearer or whatever thing sucked because the ORIGINAL fire guy seemed WAY cooler than the 3 idiots roping around.
3's redeeming qualities were Geddo & like you said the 'real' ending or when you play as Luc and company... to me that was the best friggin part of the game.
I like 4 more because I felt it had soul even if it was flawed. 3 just felt completely souless. 5 seemed to get back into the spirit of 1 & 2.
Speaking of anyone play the tactics spin off of 4? Any good? I saw reviews and passed on it.XBL: Phil Collins117
