Default Unreadable Disc Error!!!

I fear it's happened to me AGAIN! I'm on Xbox #3 right now and my first 2 have both had the Unreadable Disc error. I put a ton of DVD's and games in the disc tray but they all come up with the same error. I think it will work if I just keep trying at it. Has anyone else had this error? I have 2 Xbox 360's now that I need to get repaired and Xbox told me over the phone that if I bought them in the past 3 years that it's free to get repaired. Can anyone confirm this? How long does it take to receiver your console back?

Does it just say Unplayable disc or does a blade come up?

I had that error. Luckily, Sam's Club said that since it was less than a year old, I could exchange it. So, I paid the difference and got an Elite. What's ironic is, the one that crapped out, was one of the newer HDMI port ones. My original first-gen 360 still has had zero problems.

I kept getting the Unplayable disc error and a simple can of compressed air fixed that.

It says Unplayable Disc from the Dashboard down at the bottom where it usually says your game name.

Could be just dirty like mine was.

Go get a can of compressed air. Like $10-14.

Unplug the Xbox, remove accessories (faceplate, harddrive etc.)

There's a small button you can push with a paper clip to get the disc drive open with the power off.

Shoot compressed air. Always hold the can straight otherwise it might spew some of the liquid inside the can. Shoot in bursts. Don't shoot only in the disc drive but all the vents and connection slots. Use something to keep the fans from turning while shooting to prevent them from spinning to fast and damaging the spindles.

Worked like a charm for me.

If this doesn't work, it could be a faulty laser, but seriously, try this first.

Can't I do this from just opening the Disc Drive? I mean open up the disc drive and just spray the compressed air in like that or no?

We had one poster here that already fixed their 360 with compressed air, they were having the same issue. As a side benni it apparnetly made their x-box a lot quieter. I have plans to do the same thing to my x-box (and dreamcast).

I would try cleaning it out with compressed air like Snad did and see if that helps, or try a standard DVD cleaning kit, or both.

No you want to get as much junk out as possible. The air vents and ports need to be sprayed too. Computer suck dust in, they don't shoot it out. Discs also carry dust into the console so it's very possible the thing is just dirty.

It is exacerbated at my house because I got 3 dogs and 4 parrots.

How do parrots actually do as pets? Friendly enough? I've always kind of wanted one (don't have the space for it though) but I've been kind of concerned over bites etc lol.

Also I assume you have to let them out of the cage yes? Since they're such large birds, they don't tend to eat wood in the house or anything do they? We had a parakeet (cute thing) when I was a kid, the only major problem with it is it L-O-V-E-D to eat our family room, literally..

I won't lie because too many people get Parrots without a full understanding or having educated themselves first. It's demanding. These are not forgiving animals. They can't just be handed from one owner to the next. Two of my parrots are African Grey's and those birds have the Intelligence of a 5 year old child.

They need proper food, nails clipped and a large (and expensive) cage with plenty of toys that challenge them. I give mine baby toys with buttons that make it play music. He likes to press the buttons now and then.

Cages need to be cleaned and they will make a mess on the floor with seeds too. I clean my floor daily.

Parrots squawk and make noise. They don't just talk. Many do not understand this, get fed up and end up getting rid of them.

They do bite. Often they have provided plenty of warning that they don't want to be touched or bothered with. They have moody days like humans. Some parrots you will never be able to handle completely, others like my Orange-Winged Amazon, I can pet, kiss, twirl around, play with his wings and do whatever I want. A lot of people get the instinct to hit the bird while being bitten. Please realize their bones are completly hollow. This keeps them light and make flight possible. A small finger flick could snap a neck.

They require attention and yes they need out of the cage. Clipping the wings prevents them from flying, but here's the thing. A parrot with low self esteem or "issues" (like plucking itself) will grow confidence if you let it's wings grow. But then you need to be extra carefull all the time not to open doors or windows when they are out of the cage. A bird that becomes too dominant will be more docile if the wings are clipped.

My honest opinion, Parrots should never have become domestic animals. They are free and yearn to fly. They are gregarious and need to be with a flock. It feels wrong for them to be in captivity. This is something I've learned through years of owning parrots.

However, they are entertaining. My Grey's espacially talk a lot and they -do- understand what they say, because they say it under the right circumstance.

It breaks my heart whenever a couple wasn't foreseeing the events of their future, end up having kids and want to get rid of a Parrot. They ain't a fucking decoration. You will destroy their trust forever in doing so. My Grey's took 3 years to begin to trust me. Just to begin!! I got them from others who mal-treated or got kids and couldn't be bothered anymore.

One of them only recently stopped plucking his feathers (an act of mutilation). He was likely removed from his mother at too young an age. I've gotten that part down to an art (fixing plucking birds). Vetenarians know fuck all when it comes to parrots unless they've owned some for years. Their psychological education on the matter is seriously lacking.

If you are still interested, buy a bunch of books and read up on the subject.

Thank you Snadinator for that honest evaluation of owning a parot...

Yeah I was thinking there was more to it than keeping most birds, honestly it sounds like I'm probably not quite up to that challenge so I'll probably avoid it. They are beautiful animals though, and so so very smart (as you said).
