NES Emulator for PS3.
This is REALLY cool. A working NES emulator for the PS3 ported to Java, it does not need to boot any other OS, it runs straight from he XMB, using BD-J...
http://ps3mods.blogspot.com/2008/08/...bd-j-hack.html
I ran a DigDug NES ROM I have, and it worked a treat (no sound as yet), but otherwise perfectly playable...
Homebrew on PS3, without the security of the sysem being compromised (it's just using BD-J VM, in a unconventional way).
You can also get SameGame for BD-J and PS3...
http://forums.qj.net/showthread.php?t=142966
I reckon this could be huge, next step a homebrew plugin API, and java homebrew launcher, so you can have more than 1 game on your USB stick... -

There have been legal battles over this, I can't remember the results but I'm sure google does... Anyway I'm glad there's finally a console on the market with enough horse power to run NES games in emmulation, if only the Wii could do this....Oh wait

you will not regret hacking your PSP. It takes on a whole new life with CFW.
Customize your XMB
Customize your GameBoot
Play your PSP games from your MS - not only can you store multiple games on your MS, but it helps improve loading times.
Play PSX games from your MS - PSN and Custom PSX games
Play Homebrew Games - including emulators
the list goes on...
You can always go back to OFW if you find you don't like CFW.this message was brought to you by MrE™

If you own the original NES cartridges, no, you are free to open them up and dump the ROMs, or for convience, download pre-dumped ones..
If you don't own the original game, yes it's illegal.
It's not hacking the console at all. It's a emulator written in BD-J, a format the PS3 supports.
If you were really keen, you could have run the Linux NES emulator a long time ago (along with MAME, SNES, Sega Megadrive, Spectrum, and the whole host of others), on the PS3 under Linux. This simply avoid the need to boot PS3 linux to do so, and runs direct from the XMB in the BD-J virtual machine. -

I heard there is a big risk to hacking your PSP, and that you also need a special battery to do it, and in addition, it has to be the first generation PSP's (won't work on 2000+ models). I didn't think you could go back to the original OS since you're overwriting the old one, plus you can't update your PSP with Sony updates once you do goto homebrew.

What risk? Bricking? Only if you shut off your PSP while installing CFW. But even then you aren't in trouble because you can just unbrick it. BTW - I've installed CFW on a PSP 1000 and 2 PSP 2000s and never ran into a problem.
yes. you can either buy a premodded battery or hardmod/softmod one yourself.
False! Only PSP you can't install CFW on (at the moment) are slims with a TA-088v3 motherboard - which even the latest Madden PSPs have been found to have the older TA-088v2 motherboards. So chances any current PSP Slim owners having a TA-088v3 MB are pretty slim (pun intended). TA-088v3 only recently popped up in July.
Yes, you can.
Look up "4.01 M33-2" on youtube to see how easy it is to install.this message was brought to you by MrE™

If you don't own the roms, and want to stay legal, there is some free BD-J games:

I wish there was a Snes Emulator. Or a way to run ISO files from off the PS3. I would love to just store my PSX games on the PS3 HDD. Would hope that would improve the load times on FF6 PSX. I want the game + the FMV's. Sure, they repeat the exact thing you just saw in sprite form...but they're so pretty. Too bad the game is freaking slow on CD. Ugh, I remember losing my patience for it mid way...way too slow.
*PS A hacked PSP is the only thing that makes the thing worth owning.
