Some PSP questions and need advice

My best friend got the gow psp and i played it and loved it.
The first psp was heavy on one side and big and just weird, but they slim ones are very nice.
So I was thinking about getting the Madden PSP but I read today the 3000 or 3001 series of psps are coming out.
Any know if I should wait or know what differences are being made?

Does the psp have a friends list?
Can you voice chat in games?

What are some good games?
I plan on getting Monster Hunter 2 so far, maybe RB6 Vegas or Socom.
I like FPS to RPG.

I'd wait get the new model details. Or even just buy it at bestbuy and get the warrenty. They sell it as if a new model comes in the next 2 years you get to upgrade it free.

There is no friends list or in game chat available for PSP. It would be cool if they allowed you to carry over your PS3 list at some point.

Anyways, there's lots of good RPG's and the fact you can hook it up to your TV and play them makes it wa better than the DS in my book.

Everything about it is at the rumor stage, like the one about how it will have an internal hard drive. Will it? Who knows. Maybe you can find a used 2000 model in good shape and upgrade later.

Might as well hold out for Sony's Official 3000 announcement to find out exactly what is different/new.

I had a launch PSP 1000 and sold it because I never used it. Fast forward a few years, I read about Remote Play and wanted to buy a Slim. Started investigating custom firmware and now I have a new love for my PSP that I never had back in '05. You should def consider CFW in your purchasing decision as the latest Slim motherboards do not allow you to use Pandora's Battery and there is a really good chance you may not be able to install CFW on the 3000.

Crisis Core, Disgaea Afternoon of Darkness, Jeanne D'Arc, Final Fantasy Tactics, Dungeon Siege II: Broken Throne, Patapon are all games I've played the shiat out of.
I think CC and Jeanne D'arc are the only ones I paid more than $20 for.

If I were you I'd buy a PSP now, they are cheap for what you are getting (Games, movies, music, internet all on the go) as I'd be very surprised if a PSP3000 is out in the next 18 months. Worse comes to worse, ebay it for a $100 when the PSP3000 comes out.

PSP is one of the most impressive pieces of game hardware I've ever owned, it blows the DS away on quality and function. It's sad that quality hardware like PSP and Zune get very little street cred for the amount of value and features they have.

From what I've heard, the 3000 or 3001 model could just be a repackaged chipset to lower costs. There's also talk to the HOME button being relabeled to a PLAYSTATION button. No new features have been confirmed, but with Sony discontinuing the extended battery pack, maybe this new model will have improved battery life.

Also there are very few online titles that have voice... I think Socom was one of them. If you are a Skype user, you can use the headset for that too. Oh but there's another rumor that the new model will have an integrated mic.

PSP is a fine little system, I play a lot of Hot Shots Golf on it. (But not much online.) And the Remote Play is handy to start PSN downloads (when there are decent ones) on the PS3 without having to stop what I'm doing and switch my home theater over.

I think ill jump for the madden psp. Its $199 but has a copy of madden ($40 value), 1 gig memory stick ($25 value) so its worth it since the core psp is $169.
Plus I get my Kmart discount and a coupon for $15off anything, so its a very good deal.

once connected to wifi, it's just another click to open remote play and have access to friends list, music and movies (on PS3 or even PC), and games that support it.
