It came out around the same time as Horizon, Nioh, and Nier, which all scored really high, so I don't think that's it. I think it's just Persona has earned a lot of respect from the core RPG base. Being one of the highest rated PS4 exclusives ever certainly helps.

It was sandwiched between Mario Kart and last month's Zelda game so that wasn't it.

No, I think that's exactly it. There's a huge hole in gaming. You get a handful, then it's wait, wait, wait...wait.

Secondly, Persona scratches an itch that people have long felt needed scratching, that JRPG itch.

    What's Horizon?

People actually own a Switch to play? I haven't found one, and all I see are resales. Very similar to that NES Classic.

Kind of feel bad for Atlus in a way. That kind of performance puts a lot of pressure on them. I expect even Sega is looking at them now and wondering if they should be pushing the studio harder to generate more income for them. They were able to get away with the ludicrous Persona 5 development hell schedule because it was a niche title, and no one really cared much about it outside of "niche fans," but if you have actual financial expectations on you from the finance people saying "Now we expect you to perform, but you have to do it on time, and on budget," that's a whole different ball game from "Yeah, yeah, you just do whatever and maybe we'll make some money off it eventually. Just don't put us in the hole."

Well, I would agree if they were anything but a Japanese company. But given JP culture, I'm sure that will be much less of an issue. They'll probably have the time to go make 3 side games before they have to put out Persona 6 at the end of the PS5 lifecycle.

Well, I'm stoked that the PC is getting ports of the Cold Steel Series. As, I just bought the PS3 versions in prep for the PS4 release of Part 3. Now, that I know that all three will be on PC, well that's exciting.

I wish Atlus would port Persona to PC. Mainly, I'd love for them to do Persona 2. Since, it's two titles. They did the one PSP port, but I would like them to a remaster of the PSOne version too.

Well it's pretty much guaranteed we'll see a new Dancing and Arena title at this point, but those are mostly outsourced.

It sold almost a million in the first month and we know how desperate Nintendo fans are to support the cult of Mario. Some how they managed to sell more copies of Zelda then actual consoles in the first month.

Still haven't seen a switch for myself, though a coworker keeps saying he will bring his in so I can get some hands on time with it. I'm about ready to buy the first one I see at retail just to play Zelda.

Still holding out hope for a proper Metroid game at some point.
