Question Obsidian Already Looking Past 'South Park: The Stick of Truth' to a New Project

Nomad developer signed to a new contract on the scale of 'South Park.'

In an interview with Rock, Paper, Shotgun, Obsidian CEO Feargus Urghart stopped short of sharing specifics about which company or IP the new project will involve, "Luckily we signed another contract in December. I can’t go into any details about it, but it’s a game that will employ at least the same number of people that are working on South Park right now."

Rock, Paper, Shotgun is promising further excerpts tomorrow, even going so far as to invoke some of Obsidian's past work as future possibilities, "here’s a friendly reminder that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic III and Fallout: New Vegas 2 have a pretty good chance at becoming actual things that exist."

Feargus was also careful not to rule out a future project involving 'South Park' as well, saying "It would be awesome to keep on working with Matt and Trey and the group."

After surviving the cannibalizing of THQ, 'South Park: The Stick of True' continues on with an expected release later this year.

I already determined that my playthrough will be to side with Cartman.

Is that sorta bad news for the game, though? I mean THQ drastically declined and collapsed during development and, although the game isn't even out, the developers have moved on to another IP entirely.

I really wanted to play through this game but there's just a shit ton of 'bad' clouding this title. This is definitely a 'wait for reviews' game.

Also, I was one of the few here who enjoyed Fallout: New Vegas. I thought that game earned a solid and good B or 80. There were a ton of bugs, though. Also, both fallouts suffered from the ability to basically break the game once you find where the uber weapons are. In New Vegas, there was a robot/space manufacturing factory and museum where robots still patrolled the halls. Sneak past them and steal the guns, kill the robots for ammo = set for the rest of the game
Currently Playing: Uncharted 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword
    Back Burner: LBP2, LA Noire
    Just finished: Anno 2070 (PC)
Home Theater: Panasonic PT-ae4000u, 110" Carada Brilliant White Screen, PS3
Gaming PC: I5 2500k, GTX 670, 8GB Gskill 1600 RAM, 64 GB Patriot SSD, Samsung BD Drive

As I understand it, South Park has been pretty much done for a while. It hasn't come out due to THQ's financial issues, not because the game was still in development.

But yeah - wait for a Review because Obsidian is known for buggy games.

This specific development should actually be good. Knowing that they have work lined up when the current project finishes should be assuring in a way that lets people focus on finishing the project. And that should be true even if the best people are pealed off for pre-production.
