Post Capcom Updates 'Darkstalkers' With a New Release Date

'Darkstalkers Resurrection' Headed to PSN March 12 and XBLA March 13.

After a slight delay, North America will be getting 'Darkstalkers Resurrection' this March. The digital title includes arcade versions of two games, 'Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge' and 'Darkstalkers 3.' Both games will include optional filters to smooth over the HD scaling, online versus play, and achievements/trophies. The two title collection will be available on PSN for $14.99 and XBLA for 1200 MS Points.

Siliconera is also reporting that retail versions for both platforms will be released in Japan for roughly twice the price of the NA digital versions.

I loved the Darkstalkers games as well, but I'm not crazy about the idea of that graphics smoothing filter. I've seen that on several ported arcade games, and it's a lazy way to make something HD in my opinion. I'm glad there is usally the option for the un-smoothed sprites.

What I'd RATHER see would be a new title (even if it's just a remix of the prior games, like a Super Darkstalkers 3 Turbo Hyper Fighting Championship Edition) with newly drawn HD sprites, like their HD SF2 Turbo.

Personally I really love the Darkstalkers series. That said I'll be picking this up and I can't wait for a true HD reboot.

Any other 2D Capcom fan that just doesn't care for Street Fighter IV (or MvC3)? Just bringing that up because I'd hate for Capcom to make a 3D Darkstalkers, thinknig that's what the public wants.

Since their other fighting game series are all going 3D, I'd love it if they kept Darkstalkers in 2D (with new releases), but put a lot of next gen care into it.
