Rumor: EA May Be Sold to Private Equity Firm
Activision was reported to be up on the auction block just two months ago – if both sell it could be a big shift for the industry.

Sounds about right. They're not in a great position financially after the fart-in-the-wind that was Old Republic, so if someone had a bunch of money and a really good idea, now is the time to lay down the "Hey girl..." lines.
Would also probably expedite Rccitiello's departure. Don't see anyone buying that company and keeping him on board. Peter Moore running EA by E3 2013!

I hope so. EA has been pissing me off a lot recently, although I suspect whoever buys EA will be unlikely to get over the whole "Origin Beta" idea

Didn't know EA waas in such bad financial shape. Maybe it's karma from the 2K5/NFL deal.

EA is in bad financial shape?
EA shares surged by more than 8 percent this morning to over $14 per share, representing the highest intraday gain since February 2, according to BusinessWeek. One source reportedly familiar with EA said the publisher will "do a deal" when the company's share value rises to $20.Intel i5 2500k (@4.7Ghz) + XFX Radeon 7970 3GB RAM! + 16GB DDR3 RAM (STEAM/Origin: Nealon_Greene)
