Rocksteady developing Arkham prequel featuring the JLA
Hm, why am I not bouncing off of the walls for this?
2014 at the earliest.
Rocksteady Studios, the British developer behind Batman: Arkham Asylum and its sequel Batman: Arkham City, is believed to be developing a new installment of the blockbuster video-game series that will feature Superman, Wonder Woman and DC Comics’ other major heroes.
Variety reports the Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment game will serve as a prequel to 2009′s Arkham Asylum and revolve around Batman’s first meeting with his arch-nemesis The Joker, which apparently occurs around the time of the Justice League’s formation. Although the trade paper references DC comics of the 1950s, it seems more likely the team lineup will reflect the publisher’s New 52.

No, City was fine. I'm wary that the JLA is being shoehorned in to tie in with the movie WB wants to do and it'll hurt the tone and quality they've established so far.

City wasn't as good as Asylum. City relie to heavily on the concept that people just finished Asylum. It was also narratively borked. But...it wasn't terrible. Just dissapointing.
Anyway, I think the influence from the New 52 would be reason not to dig it. Also, Superman. He's videogame aids.. -

I'd have to agree with you on that one. City just didn't feel as good as the first title. I pretty much just played the story and have yet to finish all the side mission. Rocksteady really pissed me off also. The preorder bonus fiasco, and the fact that I had to finish the story just to use my extra suit really pissed me off. Then a couple of months later they released some billshit code to unlock the use of suits without the need to finish the game.

I would love to see a JLA game, I just don't think anyone can make a fun game built around all these different characters, and their powers. The only series that has successfully done this, is the Marvel Ultimate Alliance game. There was a similar game staring the JLA last console cycle, but it had more than a few issues. DC Universe is o.k. also, but it gets rather boring doing the same shit, over and over again.

I'm excited and have faith in rocksteady. I thought arkham city was amazing. There's also the new injustice fighting game revealed at sdcc. A dc universe fighting game using the engine from the last mortal kombat! Just take my fucking money already!
Its pretty obvious Warner brothers is trying to increase awareness of the JLA as they plan to have a movie out for 2015.Online name for 360, PSN and Steam - Snadinator

I'm starting to wonder if the prequel label is incorrect. Seems odd to do another joker-centric story in the Arkhamverse when Hamill is out. Then bringing in the JLA and a silver age tone (how do they mean that anyway?) all make me think this might be a different universe.

WB has registered the following domains:
- arkhamuniverse.com (Arkham Universe)
- batmanarkahmuniverse.com (Batman Arkham Universe)
- batmanarkhamarises.com (Batman Arkham Arises)
- batmanarkhambegins.com (Batman Arkham Begins)
- batmanarkhamdarkknight.com (Batman Arkham Dark Knight)
- batmanarkhamknight.com (Batman Arkham Knight)
- batmanarkhamlegend.com (Batman Arkham Legend)
- batmanarkhamlegends.com (Batman Arkham Legends)
- batmanarkhamnight.com (Batman Arkham Night)
- batmanarkhamorigins.com (Batman Arkham Origins)
- batmanarkhamstories.com (Batman Arkham Stories)
- darkknightarkham.com (Dark Knight Arkham)
- dcarkhamuniverse.com (DC Arkham Universe)
- dcarkhamverse.com (DC Arkhamverse)
- thearkhamuniverse.com (The Arkham Universe)
When they did this for the last game, one of the domains was arkham city so I wonder if the game's title is in there somewhere. I almost hope not, I get it's a brand name now but I'm not thrilled with using Arkham in the title again. Most of those sound pretty bad save Arkham Stories (which sounds like an anthology of some sort). -

I'm going to guess the arkhamuniverse/arkhamverse ones just exist because WB knows it'll be a buzzword/phrase when they launch the third one. If not... God, I'd really hate that. I thought the idea of Arkham City was really well done, but if they're just going to be like "Well, we did an asylum, then a city.... What next? THE WORLD! --- No wait... THE UNIVERSE! AHHHH" then it's just going to be all kinds of silly and stupid.
