Crytek to PC Gamers: "Don't Fear Next-Gen Consoles"
LOL:
http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Cry...Gen,16067.html
"The only thing that will happen is that PC gaming is going to change and adopt different business models - and we are trying to change it ourselves with high quality, premium free-to-play titles," he said. "There is absolutely no reason why gamers shouldn't get triple-A games for free. Absolutely no reason. But we're going to bite the bullet and do it. Somebody has to lead the way.""I went to Korea in 2006 and I was blown away by the way people play games - online, connection and social... that's their lifestyle. There are pro-gamers making more money that some sports guys," he said. "So in 2006 I saw the future. A future with crappy quality at that point, but with games that were creating revenues and business models that were astonishing."
"So when I came back I said, 'I want that kind of business model in the Western world with the quality of a Crysis,'" he added.Intel i5 2500k (@4.7Ghz) + XFX Radeon 7970 3GB RAM! + 16GB DDR3 RAM (STEAM/Origin: Nealon_Greene)

PC's are DOOOOOOOOOOOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD DDDDD.
Great quotes on the internet:
I hear Galaxy is brilliant, and it probably is. Just can't picture myself sitting down and playing it. That would take time away from watching the Disney Channel and working on my coloring book.Ryan Payton (MGS4 Associate Producer) -

06-20-2012 09:44 PM #4What BS.. don’t act like your giving away a full gaming experience, like today’s $60 titles, for free."There is absolutely no reason why gamers shouldn't get triple-A games for free. Absolutely no reason. But we're going to bite the bullet and do it. Somebody has to lead the way."DarkRedRain (XBL, PSN, WiiU)
Currently Playing: A bit of Halo 4, a bit of COD, but mostly waiting till next gen -

I look forward to playing games equivalent to Halo, Gears, and Uncharted absolutely free.
Uh-oh."So when I came back I said, 'I want that kind of business model in the Western world with the quality of a Crysis,'" he added. -

AoE Online is probably the best Free2Play I've played but didn't enjoy enough to warrant buying all the extra stuff.
Usul, we have wormsign the likes of which even God has never seen.

http://ca.ign.com/articles/2012/06/2...-inevitability
EA's Peter Moore: Free-to-Play is an "Inevitability""Consoles are still going to be a very important part of what we do. But so are browsers. So are iOS devices. So are Android mobile phones. So are PCs, which are feeling a renaissance. It's all coming together in this potpourri..."
None of this is hugely surprising. When we recently spoke to Moore about the public perception of EA, he revealed to us that he feels "The $60 game is dying. The mid-range game is no longer profitable. EA has to focus its energies elsewhere in order to meet those quarterly targets."Intel i5 2500k (@4.7Ghz) + XFX Radeon 7970 3GB RAM! + 16GB DDR3 RAM (STEAM/Origin: Nealon_Greene)

I haven't found a free to play game yet that has been fun long term. None of them are truly "free". Sure, I can play and get the most basic experience, but then I have to pay to advance or use the "cooler" items. In the end, F2P games can end up costing you a lot more than the $60 initial cost of a regular game.
I am going to start the Forever Against (free2play) Games club, or F.A.G. Who wants to join and be a F.A.G.? -

F2P is generally a shit model. I dont like transacting. If I have to do so, don't give me some modular game which I need to keep paying for. I want to pay for a license once and be finished. On similar principle, that's why I elected to sell my 360 when my xbl gold subscription was up.
I am not a guy that wants to pay continuous subscription fees or pay for something in installments.Currently Playing: Uncharted 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword
Back Burner: LBP2, LA Noire
Just finished: Anno 2070 (PC)
Home Theater: Panasonic PT-ae4000u, 110" Carada Brilliant White Screen, PS3
