I'm not entirely happy with them announcing specific DLC before the game is even released. Surely if it's being made at the same time as the game it should actually be in the game.
I'm hoping XCOM: Enemy Unknown turns out awesome. It's really only depending on how much the game gets simplified for the consoles. I think it's release may slip into next year.HD DVD: 23 (Latest: 12 Monkeys)
Blu-ray: 217 (Latest: Star Trek TNG: The Best of Both Worlds)
3D Blu-ray: 27 (Latest: The Hobbit) -

I totally get what you're saying here, but the reason you see this kind of thing is purely the fault of gamers. Companies sell exponentially more launch day DLC than content released even a week after the game comes out. It may bother a certain subset of the community, but most folks are willing to shell out for it. Companies gotta follow the money!

This one isnt so bad because so long as you pre-ordered the game, this DLC is free!
