I'm not a big fan of blanket statements, so if I'm tossing out something that looks insulting, it's probably well qualified. In retrospect, I didn't take the time to appropriately narrow the scope of my statement last night. Retail works sucks, I've done plenty of it; more power to those that can keep up with it - they don't deserve any more flak than what they already get at work. However, it really pisses me off when people make horribly anti-consumer moves and start selling open games as "new." If the game has been tampered with at all, and the seal removed - that shit is used. I don't care if it merely fell off the truck that way; it's used. New means BOTH (1) sealed, and (2) PRISTINE condition. If something happened to it like "oh yeah that seal broke during shipping" or "the package got dinged during shipping and that's why it looks like it may have been previously opened" - im sorry, but I don't care. Send it back to the manufacturer or set it out on your floor at a marked down price. But don't try to sell it to me as new.

Blame EB Games for that, not Gamestop. When they bought EB back in 2005, EB's executives became Gamestop executives and brainwashed the company into thinking it was a good idea to store use an actual game case and store the game disc as the last "new" copy. I was working there when this began to happen, which our manager was not happy about. Three days before I left, they were told every new release had to have 1-3 copies gutted to have the case on display. I agree, the employees agree, but there is nothing they can do. An opened game is not a brand new game even if it is unplayed. If I sell a game I have never played, it still counts as used, but Like New.
As for Gamestop itself, until there is another game store that allows me to preorder things, pay for the item continuously months in advance, and have free preorder bonuses, I will always shop at Gamestop."...somewhere out there, michael bay now has the basis for his next film...and it's all your fault." - project-blu -

That's a terribly shady practice and since EB and GameStop are now one and the same - I blame them both; namely GameStop.
Not sure about the 'pay continuously' thing - but that's basically Amazon, BestBuy, and a whole host of other places. Games are only $60 - and even if I didn't have that sort of cash at any given time, I'd rather restructure my purchases in whatever way necessary so as not to give GameStop my business. They are awful.Currently Playing: Uncharted 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword

Like Badger said, Amazon. If you like to make payments in the time leading up to a game's release just set the money aside somewhere then deposit it in your account around the time of release.
I shop a GS a good bit too as a friend is the manager of the store I go to but let's not pretend they are providing some great, unique service. -

I used to work at Gamestop, and I've been in one like.... four times in the last 3 years.
Great quotes on the internet:
I hear Galaxy is brilliant, and it probably is. Just can't picture myself sitting down and playing it. That would take time away from watching the Disney Channel and working on my coloring book.Ryan Payton (MGS4 Associate Producer)
