Max Payne 3: May 2012

Max Payne 3 will be released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC in March 2012, according to Rockstar.

Single-player kicks off where Max Payne 2 ended, with Max starting a new life working as a private security agent for a wealthy family in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The campaign will see Max "clear his name, in a bid to, once and for all, rid himself of the demons that have tortured him for far too long."

The game will also have multi-player, which Rockstar is describing as a "compelling experience". It'll feature traditional modes, in addition to clan support and a "deep reward and leveling system."

While Max Payne 1 and 2 were made by Remedy Entertainment, part 3 is being developed by Rockstar's global development teams, using its own Advanced Game Engine.

"Max Payne 3 gave us an amazing creative opportunity to evolve one of our most iconic characters," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "We're excited to show fans a modern version of Max that pulls them back into his dark and twisted story."

Count me uninterested in this "Max Payne" game. I stand by the same statement I made FOUR YEARS AGO, the design is terrible, and giving Rockstar a pure action game is a bad idea. And Using their engine is just not right for Max. GTA 4 and RDR didn't have very good shooting mechanics. And they better not make it a LA Noire/GTA hybrid.which is what it looks like by that terrible cover-art.

Have never played a Max Payne game, so as long as the game play looks good, I might be interested.

There still hasn't even been a trailer. But the same was true for LA Noire the same amount of time out.

Well, it's a shooter and it has a voice-over. Not sure if that's enough to call it Max Payne but there you have it.

Also lack of dive shooting in the trailer made me sad. I know there's a scene in the trailer where he is diving to the left, but someone had to point it out to me since I originally thought it was a hobo thug falling death animation.

Budget is supposed to be $100 million+.. production value should be very high. Hopefully the gunplay is strong as well.

You're doing something wrong if your linear 3rd person shooter costs as much as an open world game (GTA4 was also reported to cost the same amount).

At least we hope it's still linear and not yet another Rockstar formula game.
