Correct. Was going to call him out but wasn't sure if he upgraded. If he doesn't go for the monitor over the SSD, he should be publically drawn and quartered while showing the event online using his DSL connection, so that the pain is drawn out while his connection keeps buffering.

ROFL. <2 seconds of jaggy, macro-block video... .... .... .... .... 15 seconds of buffering, repeat>
There will be tar and feathers if he hasn't upgraded his monitor; and now that I think of it, didn't he post of screenshot of a carebear thing recently at a tiny res?

There needs to be an intervention for Blinx. Friends don't let friends pair their GTX680 with a 4:3 CRT.

Oh well.
Guess I'm going for the less expensive piece of hardware (the monitor) then.
Besides. TERA, SWTOR and a few other games make my eyes strain on that monitor. I can barely read the text and, in case of TERA, it feels like playing inside a stuffed shoebox.
I just hope a 23" monitor will be enough to improve the overall experience.
I currently lack the funds to go triple-monitor (well. I could. Just not with the high quality Dell panels I was shooting for).
As for the SSD, I might as well rely on my RAM some more (I haven't even tried moving parts of TERA/SWTOR or the whole of Skyrim to my ram disk. I'm especially interested in the resulting performance surplus for TERA. 3 seconds of caching kind of ruin the experience for me*. Especially as I'm playing on an open world PvP server).
Thanks for setting me straight.

You'll wonder why you went all this time without it. SSDs are, when you think about it, one of the last upgrades you need(though it'll be one of the most obvious too). The awesome performance is still there regardless, but it makes more sense in systems with mid-high end CPU and GPUs with large stores of RAM as opposed to grandma's e-mail checker.

Blinx, can you not connect your rig to the 47'' 1080p telly for the time being? At least, I know if I got a new gtx 680 I'd rather try playing it on the 1080p telly rather than the old low-res monitor. And most definitely, would rather show off screenshots in 1080p of the gtx 680 in action but that's just me. Is there something preventing you from connecting to the 1080p HDTV panel--resolution issues, is text harder to read, latency issues, etc..? Terra looks good to me. I'd like to see some high res 1080p screenies from you if possible, also try posting a screen of the graphic options menu, grafx whore in me would like to see what kind of video options the game has to offer. TIA.

Well. The only thing preventing me really is space and cabling.
I could hook it up to my TV for things other than console ports and the occasional Blu-Ray, but it wouldn't be that comfortable. My coffee-table isn't quite up to the task.
As for TERA's graphics options. Nothing too spectacular.
Someone else already posted it.

EDIT: I might need eye surgery.
Just checked NVIDIA Control Panel and realized that I forgot to activate FXAA and Antialiasing Transparency in there, yet TERA looks like I injected some high-end AA to me (I don't even see any jaggies around treelines)

Quick heads up, felt like editing my last post for more clear wording, so apologies about that. It just seems like lost potential using gtx 680 with lower res, I know if that were me, I'd try everything in my power to try to get it hooked up to a higher res screen.. and if not possible, I'd pick up a new monitor asap if I were you. In any case, can you try using fraps or msi afterburner to measure your fps? Must be hitting ultra high frames with gtx 680 + low res?

If interested, should check out nvidia inspector as well. I noticed Tera has a profile in inspector, can set up some nice aa custom bits (either by googling or experimenting with it yourself) via inspector with most games that will yield even better results than in game settings or standard forceware control panel.
Edit; Again though, only if you're interested. Am super nerdy when it comes to AA, and love using inspector because of it.Usul, we have wormsign the likes of which even God has never seen.

Min: 54
Avg: 70
Max: 79
Definitely no AA, now that I'm on the lookout for it. Game's based on the UDK (UE3), so it needs NVIDIA Injector.
I didn't check the GPU, but the CPU was averaging at 54% during all times.PSN/XBL: BLINX1234 -

That looks like low-medium quality video settings (at least I hope you aren't running the game on a gtx 680 at low-med quality visuals), or is that how the game looks with everything maxed on a 680? Judging from the looks of the low visual quality of that screen combined with the low resolution, surely the gtx 680 would be capable of more than 79 fps at any given moment, no?
And what's up with the funny unregistered play claw watermark thingy? Why not just use freeware programs without any watermarks to measure fps like Fraps or MSI Afterburner? Is that even your own screenshot? Not trying to be rude, just curious.Usul, we have wormsign the likes of which even God has never seen.

That's how the game looks on Ultra (completely maxed out, except of resolution of AA), actually.
As for the frame-rate, there looks to be some sort of hard cap/hidden Vsync switch. The game was stuck at 79 FPS most of the time. It once reached 84 FPS but only for a fraction of a second.
I'm moving my rig to to my home theatre area next weekend, so we'll see how that goes.
As for Playclaw. I still had that one installed on my computer. It's a rather feasible Fraps alternative that allows recordings of several hours.
EDIT: Heh. Guess I was right. There really is a cap.

Im surprised at the dated visuals in that game. I havent heard about Tera aside from your frequent mentions of it, so I suppose it's a game that's big in Europe but didnt get any real press here in the states. Or is it older or something?
