Marvel Entertainment has promoted TQ Jefferson to Vice President of Production, Games, it was announced today by Ira Rubenstein, Executive Vice President, Global Digital Media Group, Marvel Entertainment.
Reporting to Rubenstein, Jefferson will oversee the development of all Marvel games from concept to final release, collaborating with Marvel's interactive partners including Activision, Capcom, Gazillion, SEGA, THQ and Zen Studios throughout the production process. Jefferson will play a strategic role in the development and product planning for Marvel’s slate of games, comprised of Flash, mobile and smart phone, console and handheld games, as well as PC titles.
In addition, the 14-year video game veteran will continue his responsibilities of providing critical creative guidance to all Marvel game titles by aligning key talent with Marvel's interactive partners. Jefferson will manage a heavy slate of projects based on Marvel properties and events, coordinating efforts with Marvel Studios and other producers of films based on Marvel characters, including Sony and Fox. He will also work alongside the Disney Interactive Media Group to plan and execute a future slate of games that innovate and entertain.
Rubenstein noted: "We at Marvel couldn’t be more pleased to announce TQ’s promotion to Vice President of Production, Games. In the three years since he joined our team, TQ has gone to great lengths to increase the value of both our self-titled and licensed products. We look forward to seeing his continued success with the company over the next several years."
Jefferson is responsible for overseeing the development of the much-anticipated "Marvel vs. Capcom 3" video game with partner Capcom, helping to determine the roster and introducing new-to-the-franchise Marvel characters including Phoenix, Super-Skrull and Deadpool. In addition, Jefferson brought Marvel writer Frank Tieri on board to write for "Marvel vs. Capcom 3" and has also worked with writers Matt Fraction and Christos Gage to bring epic storytelling to SEGA's "Thor: God Of Thunder" and "Captain America: Super Soldier" video games. Jefferson has been critical to the success of the newly launched Marvel.com and MarvelKids.com by taking production in-house and creating a growing portfolio of new Flash-based games. He is also collaborating with Gazillion on Marvel's first MMO, "Super Hero Squad Online," launching later this year, as well as the company's "Marvel Universe" MMO, already well into development."
Jefferson began his career as Quality Assurance tester at Activision where he worked his way up through the ranks, eventually leaving the company as Producer. Prior to Marvel, Jefferson spent two years at Pixar Animation as Sr. Interactive Manager before joining Marvel in 2008 as Director of Games.Online name for 360, PSN and Steam - Snadinator

Marvel: Announced an MMO around the time of DCUO announcement and game ended up canceled.
DC: DCUO has, so far, been a pretty big success. -

Cool, I am going to use the modifier so far on every post I make...thus..making me right all of the time...so far.
Any way, my statement still stands. It can't be called a success in any way yet considering one week of sales is yet to make up the development budget, much less have any indication of active subscribers. You could call a normal game a success at this point, but an MMO succeeds only on subscribers, which at this point, DCU has no known recurring subscribers. -

I've got something you can modify right here
Anyways - Looking forward to seeing what they can do with this. If anything, the short time spent on the DC beta and the general consensus from here shows that at least it can be done and be done well. I generally prefer Marvel over DC to begin with, but I won't just assume that the Marvel MMO will be any better just because of a different cast of characters and background. -

Capital idea, old boy!

Statement doesn't stand. The fact that I said so far acknowledges that it could very well fall on its face after a month. It's not a hard idea to grasp.Any way, my statement still stands. And really, unless its a mega title like Halo, GTA or CoD, you usually need at least a month to declare a normal game a success too. -

If this MMO comes with a subscription, that's going to hurt its chances in the same way that DCUO's fate is uncertain beyond the free trial month.

That's the good thing for Marvel here, if DCUO doesn't hold onto subs well, they can see about making it transaction-based and use that in their marketing.
I wonder how far off the game still is, though?
