The similarities would be there, but it's not a great parallel to UC3. Uncharted is more about a deeply flawed protagonist who never really becomes a badass killing machine. He never even gets to being as smooth as Indian Jones; and for that reason, the series is pretty neat. The whole orphan thing is a bit overplayed but whatever

Crystal Clear: There Will be No Pre-Launch Demo for the New 'Tomb Raider'
Story far too "personal" to be spoiled.
Apparently discounting all the footage and information already released about the new 'Tomb Raider,' including no shortage of controversy and delay, Karl Stewart, Global Brand Director for Crystal Dynamics announced today via Twitter, "For all those @tombraider fans asking. There are no plans to release a demo of the game pre-launch. We don't want to spoil the story........"
According to Destructoid, Karl later expounded on this story concern, "We've weaved such an personal story we don't believe spoiling it by having you wait a week or so to play on, delivers on our promise."
Responding to the notion that the entire story has already been revealed, Stewart quipped, "you've seen nothing yet.....trust me!!"
The possibility of a demo for the game post-launch remains, likely at a time where the entire story has been revealed through video and print throughout the internet.

That's one of the problems with Uncharted, he does not act that way during cutscenes but during gameplay, he is a badass killing machine. How many fools does he murder in each title? It's an unfortunate disconnect. Those games could do with less fighting and a bigger focus on puzzles.
Of course, I also think that because the combat in those games is pretty bad but that's another issue.
The possibility of skipping some of the combat is what excites me about Last of Us. -

We'll see. It could be just this component of play. It just seems everything they showed is to emphasize the fact it's violent. Which, I don't really care about. I play violent things all the time. I just didn't think Naughty Dog would focus on that stuff. That's all. It seems cheap of them.
Im just hoping its better than U3. Ugh...I really disliked that game. -

Since I find the combat (encounter design) in Uncharted (2, not so much in 3) awesome and top-of-the-heap stuff, and the puzzles lame, I would rather they just focused on the combat. Because it rules and has always been the lifeblood of the series -- awesome characters and awesome action with traversal. In Uncharted, I mean. When they actually take time to design the encounters to be awesome.
As for the disconnect, meh. It's not that different from Indiana Jones, and I've always found that complaint odd anyway... I don't see his personality changing... the things he says and how he carries himself are consistent throughout the movies and the gameplay. (It's not like GTA: SA, where in the cutscene he's a caring son and anti-drug crusader of sorts, and then in the gameplay it's hard to drive a block without running over a cop.) Of course, Drake DOES shoot hundreds of guys, but that's the situation he's in; it's not like he's shown to be really tormented about killing people in the cutscenes. Same as IJ. He's a treasure hunter, but if an army of goons comes at him, he's going to defend himself and not feel the least bit bad about it... nothing in the cutscenes suggests otherwise. It's consistent.
TLOU is presumably a different beast, and I'm avoiding all exposure to the media, so we'll see.Receiver: Denon 3808CI / Remote: Logitech Harmony 1

I tend to agree with this, especially if you emphasize the word "goons." Uncharted often makes it pretty clear that several of the hordes of bad guys are total idiots (whether you overhear them say something dumb or it's in a cutscene).
Uncharted is supposed to be a light-hearted quick action romp a la Indiana Jones. It's very self-aware of the parts you're considering cheesy or disconnected and I appreciate that about the game. I don't completely recall, but hasn't Drake even made quips about killing lots of moronic baddies?Currently Playing: Uncharted 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword

I just have a hard time merging the "just killed dozens of guys" Drake with the "just hit his head on a low wall" Drake.
Ultimately I would like the series more if it was more of an adventure game. Not too strictly, just leaning more that way. One of the best moments for me in U2 was that large room with the huge blade statue where you had to direct the beam of light around. I was bummed when it went to fighting right after that.
To be clear I'm not at all saying it's a bad series. The writing and voice work are great, as are some of the set pieces, I just really don't like the gunplay. I'd rate it lower than a lot of other tps'. I guess you could say I want more, well, tomb raiding. -

Uncharted 3 is more up your alley, then, as it actually has some non-retarded puzzles.

no demo means I wont be buying it. I had thought it looked interesting from all the E3 videos but nope I like to play new titles before shelling out $60 for them
