I like seeing game reviews but, I'm still not sure it really fits the site. At the very least, I think some things need to change about the reviews themselves. I don't think they need to follow the Blu-ray review format so closely. IMO, it shouldn't be called video quality but graphics quality, should add some ratings like gameplay and online gameplay.
I still don't think "Blu-ray" should be included in the title of the review because, it is only on a BD if you play on the PS3, it's on a DVD on the 360 and PC. The media format doesn't not have an effect on the game as it does for movies (it is more about the hardware for games). This is why most games look the same weather you play them on a PS3 or 360, some 360 games look better while some look better on the PS3. Point is, the media does not matter, not like it does for DVD movies vs BD movies. If the only reason game reviews are showing up on this site is because they are on a Blu-ray disc for the PS3, then that is really short sighted for HDD.
I do like seeing the reviews but, these are not BD movies and shouldn't follow the same review format as BD movies. Video and audio quality are not the only things that matter in a video games and these reviews need to do a better job at reflecting that IMO.Last edited by Rolltide1017; 12-02-2010 at 08:44 AM.

I'm glad to see game reviews on this site. My love for movies go hand in hand with my love for video games. If I could make a suggestion, the review should be split up into 4 sections: Graphics and sound, gameplay, multiplayer/extra modes, and the game itself. Graphics and sound are great when they are part of a great game. But they can be a smokescreen when a game is bad. Considering you cover all this in the full written review it's not a huge request. Keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing more game reviews and hopefully an entire section of the site dedicated to gaming.

There is one game where being on BD makes a difference. Final Fantasy XIII's pre-rendered cut scenes are a higher resolution on the PS3 because the game is on a dual layer BD. I'll admit that it's really one of the few titles where it makes a difference because of the media the game is on.

No more game reviews, please. This is *not* what HDD is about. There are literally tons of gaming review sites out there, as well as sites that analyze all the graphical and audio data that accompany them. I come to HDD to find out the quality of the technical aspects of Blu-ray movie releases and to get news about Blu-ray releases.
If anything, make a sub-site called "High Def Digest Games" and keep it separate from the main site. -

Really? Because I could swear they were about all things high def.
And you still will.I come to HDD to find out the quality of the technical aspects of Blu-ray movie releases and to get news about Blu-ray releases.
Should they also make a "HDD digital downloads", or how about "HDD bargains section"?If anything, make a sub-site called "High Def Digest Games" and keep it separate from the main site. -
