Default Persona director introduces us to Catherine, on Xbox 360 and PS3

Who is Catherine? She appears to be the subject of a newly announced game from Atlus. Revealed in this week's Famitsu, Catherine is the first HD project from the Persona team, and it's going to both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The tale follows Vincent, a troubled insomniac plagued by nightmares involving a never-ending staircase. According to Siliconera, this action/adventure horror tale is "intended for adults."

Katsura Hashino, the director of Persona 4, is helming the project, which is currently scheduled for a Winter 2010 release in Japan.

I'm expecting that we probably won't see this in the West until summer, spring at the earliest. Atlus just doesn't have the kind of manpower that other devs and publishers do for a simultaneous global release.

All in good time though, at least they finally got on board with the current generation of consoles.

Never played the Persona titles myself, but this Catherine one sounds interesting. The premise intrigues me, and who doesn't like cute and busty anime chicks?

From the looks & sound of it they could of just called this Persona 5 if they wanted.

    Regardless, day 1 buy.

It's set in the same universe it seems, but the gameplay is supposed to be more action and no RPG so I'd imagine calling it Persona 5 would piss a lot of people off. That said day 1 buy for me.

I'm not a big fan of it switching to an Action RPG style. However, as long as they keep the gameplay aspects of balancing dungeon crawling and social life that made me love Persona 3 + 4 so much and produce another quality story, I'll readily forgive them almost any battle system.

Congradulations. It's about time slow poke! The ending is over the top, just make sure you talk to everyone you possibly can before you do the last boss so you get the best ending.

I don't know what it means either, but I would be happy if there is only a little, and they had the same monster merging as P3-4. Imagine Shoeless, Persona meets Demon Souls - how awesome would that be!

Right, I've heard I need to do some stuff to get the real real real ending, so I will be careful. I did manage to avoid the super-crap ending by myself, though.

Yeah it was really wierd like that. Even the boss you think is the last boss isn't really the last boss. That was kind of cool I thought. I was tricked!

But it's not an jrpg? It's an action/adventure horror.
