Crysis engine used to make fantasy maps...!
I can only imagine what the next batch of RPG's is going to look like!

The sort of graphics possible with CryEngine 2 is stunning. While we've all seen what can be done with it from Crytek's games, but what about in the hands of a fantasy artist?

Nice screen shots. You realize that Aion is built on the Crysis engine right?

I think someone should license out the Just Cause 2 engine (Avalanche).
It's amazing. That is the best-looking game out there today. Yes, of all games.Receiver: Denon 3808CI / Remote: Logitech Harmony 1

I wasn't sure if you'd like that game or not, it only takes like 4 hours to beat if that when doing main stuff. Which is pretty light story wise. But it's fucking awesome cheap fun.
I still have to finish it, I put it on the hardest level and taking some bases can be a chore. I agree it looks great for an open world & in motion.
As far as best of the best, well I haven't played the PC version.XBL: Phil Collins117

Of ALL games? This makes me very curious to see. I tried the demo, and wasn't really bowled over, but hey - if the gfx are better than KZ2, U2 etc. it'd be worth a second look maybe... What is it that is so impressive about Just Cause2? Draw distance in a sandbox? Or what?

Well, I've been playing it for 40 hours so far (though I admit some of those hours were spent looking for that last fucking generator in some random base, to get 100% on it).
I don't think it's possible to beat the game in 4 hours, because you won't be able to unlock the story missions that fast. You have to do a lot of other stuff. I've heard this annoys a lot of people, but for me it was fun doing all kinds of different things and racking up chaos.
The game definitely has some problems, but it's still the best sandbox game of this generation that I've played (haven't played RDR, though). It's like this crazy stupid 80s action movie.
I would restart. I know you probably want 1000/1000, but that will take forever. It's not worth the frustration. I'm playing it on 2nd hardest (Experienced), and the game is HARD. There was one time I was about to swear the game off as a failure; it was a story mission comprised of taking this 4-part base complex, without any checkpoints. But thankfully I fought through that one, and after that it became manageable, with all the upgrades... but still hard.I still have to finish it, I put it on the hardest level and taking some bases can be a chore. I agree it looks great for an open world & in motion.
Exactly. There is some popup, but it's just minor things. You never get missing mountains far away from you -- you can always see infinitely far.
Draw distance is the #1 thing. Also, the detail in the world. There are SO many nooks and crannies in the game world. There are deserts, a huge mountainous area, jungles, there's a big city, tons of villages. There are random military bases and airports and seaports all over the place, and none of them are just repeating versions of each other! Each port has a different configuration and different facilities. Each military base is totally different; some are on ice in the mountains, some span water channels, etc. etc. I don't even know how humans generated so much stuff.
Uncharted 2 looks perfect, more so than JC2, especially as far as humans are concerned. But the level of ambition is not even comparable. I don't think AC II looked as good as U2, even considering it was open-world, but this does. There are times when JC2 looks perfect, too. I was standing on some bridge trying to BASE jump at one point, and the sun was setting, and it was just unbelievable. I could see all these mountains, all this perfect-looking water, snow, and there was even a lit up city far away.
Oh yes, the physics are the bomb. You have lived until you've high-jacked a fighter jet just as it was taking off and blown the living shit out of a big radio mast right in the middle of the base.
I have the last mission left. I don't know where I'd put this game in terms of an overall grade yet -- it gave me a lot of enjoyment, but it also pissed me off a lot for the first few hours -- but the visuals are outstanding.Receiver: Denon 3808CI / Remote: Logitech Harmony 1

Somehow reminds me of the graphical update NCSoft is planning for Aion. I already saw screenshots of it and they share elements with those here.

Well the last mission is unlocked I think, i'll have to try it this week. Pyro I think said that's basically it for the story, but we'll see. It's on a southern desert area, playing on the hardest setting is a bitch, but I hijack helicopters for a living in this game.
So whenever they send re-enforcements I think "oh thanks a new one!".
But if it is "it" I probably will restart on normal to 100% (if i'm inclined to, not sure) As taking the bases = a lot of helicopters & deaths.
Biggest complaint is buying weapons and gear... 1 fucking transaction please!XBL: Phil Collins117

Haha, they don't even have an achievement for 100%. That's just ridiculous. It would take 100 hours and be very monotonous.
My biggest complaint is few checkpoints in missions. I don't buy weapons/vehicles much; only when I'm in a bind. Though I unlocked the last black market item, so I can whip out that crazy-ass Razorback tank thing anytime I want. I haven't yet, because that's cheap, but... hehehe.

Dodging Silo missiles and still knocking them out is oddly one of my favorite things to do. Sure they get me here and there, but I feel like James Bond doing it.
And the hook shot parachute mechanic is just brilliantly fun.XBL: Phil Collins117
