FF XIII spoilery thread
Seemed like a good idea for ME2 and Heavy Rain so I figured "Why not?".

Why would you dedicate a thread to spoiling FFXIII? Should the forum have a race to see who can despoil the game first!? : ()

I put it down either myself or KTA to finish the game first. I myself have to power-play it for review purposes, so I'm playing all day, every day as of tomorrow afternoon.

Ok my only real peeve so far is that the game's plot intially does not make much sense unless you read the Datalogue. The plot should be understandable through the games plot exposition. So if you are having difficulty understanding whats happening you really should read the event logue.

If I wasn't so damned tired, I'd have played more but it's a solid start, I think. The battle system is easy, the tutorials are shit, though. But they need to be read because while they make it seem more complex than it is, your lack of options starting out actually works to your comprehensive advantage. You'll learn new abilities and be able to chain them together via either auto-battle or manually. Either way is fine. Auto-battle spamming is basically the gameplay for the start but I'm sure it gets more complex later on, especially with the Paradigm Shift comes into play. Experimentation may yet yield some awesome results.

Linear, though, yes. But I disagree with the notion that linear = bad. I don't mind it, thus far, I just want to see what happens next.+32in Sanyo Vizon

Impressions so far:
I love the battle music but God, did they have to constantly play it through chapter 1?
Vanille has a pretty neat voice, an interesting walk, and an annoying run. I like her though so far. She seems a little... off, kinda. Her weapon is pretty cool, too.
Like Dragon said above, you REALLY need to read the datalogues to know what the hell's going on at first. Reminded me of a Bioware game, actually. Only with important info that's not explained instead of fleshing out the world. I didn't know what the hell a Fal'Cie was until the end of the first chapter.
I can definitely see some design similarities to FFX, mostly in the clothing and some of the chracters. I'm also getting a "this is a flashback" feeling similiar to X.
One small thing that has always bugged me in past FFs is rectified with this installment... weapon holsters/sheaths!
I story so far has been interesting and I like the way it keeps jumping between characters.
For me it's always been Story>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>gameplay in an rpg so I think I'll be momstly happy here. -

Ok... in the future, let's make spoiler threads like these at least a week after a game's official release... just like the ME2 spoiler thread.
