Any half decent engineer can knock up a car which can compete in terms of speed with more expensive cars if they basically whack an enormous engine in a crappy plastic kit-car like shell. For the ZR1 to be heralded as the pinnacle of US automotive industry should be downright embarrassing. If they ever manage to couple the speed with little things like features and build quality (like for example a Nissan GTR or Audi R8) THEN they should be proud of themselves. Until then the US automotive industry will continue to be seen around the world as a bunch of agricultural hacks and rightly so.

That's why the CTS-V is much more impressive than the ZR1. It's no BMW, but it's pretty good.

The zr1 is a mass produced 100k car that can run with $400k cars. Thats a feat in itself.

I think you mean the Nissan GT-R. If that's what you meant, then, yes, I agree. The GT-R is everything a supercar should be. Pretty, Outlandish, Cutting Edge, Bonkers, High-Horsepower/weight ratio, Handling and utterly ridiculous. Should reduce you to a schoolboy, and it does.

If you did mean the ZR-1, then I'll agree that it's a lower grade car that has performance that is kind of in league with nice cars.. sure.

Has anyone unlocked the X1 (now named the X2010)? I'm told you get the chance to unlock it at Level 30. I'm gonna grind up to it to unlock it. Hopefully the challenge isn't too hard.

ach. I'm not saying it's garbage. We all like certain cars, the point that I'm mostly interested in, is that I don't really value North American cars, out of the best examples that we can come up with, it's very few choices, and they aren't absolute standouts.

No one argues Ferrari or Pagani. No question about Aston or Lotus's place. Heck, even Peugeot, Renault and Citroen do okay for garbage cars! Chrysler, Ford and GM in North America, really aren't doin' it.

You are wrong about the CTS-V interior, the germans do it better and therefore command higher prices. Their interiors also won't fall apart after 3 years.

You are wrong about the ZR1, it's an unrefined car with a big engine and some nice brakes. The interior, exterior, and especially the seats are junk considering it's $120k price tag.
That's why it scored behind the M3, GTR, RX-8 in Car and Driver's handling test.

Ummmm...okay. You do realize how sill it is to actually compare an m3 and an rx8 to a zr1 right? Considering it beats them at everything? The vette beat them all on the ring except the unconfirmed nissan gtr test...which beat it by 2 seconds...with AWD.

You can hate on the zr1 all you want, but its probably the perfomance bargain (that and the gtr) of a lifetime.

I dunno about you guys but I think the zr1 is gorgeous looking. Then again I've always had a thing for vettes. Performance wise vettes are a huge bargain.

Of course, mentioning build quailty and cheap flimsy plastic interiors and all Americans have that disease for some reason :P

Well I bought the ZR1 but didn't see that race modding it costs 380k. And then I went off buying an M3 CSL lol. Also won the M3 GTR as level 9 prize car. 2 E46 M3s I wanted. I continue to be a sucker with that used dealership

Sweet! The Mugen and Spoon S2000s showed up in my used list after conquering a rally challenge. The Honda gods have blessed me.

Anyway the ZR1 is good but ugly IMO. I think that bump on the hood doesn't go well with the rest of the car. I cannot for the, life of me, drive a Viper without feeling extremely uncomfortable. The thing looks like a giant penis on wheels....in an atmosphere where talking about rods, cranks, and shafts is already the norm....

One car, I am totally head over heels for is the 458... holly hell... I used to consider the NSX-R as the peak for a production car with the most ideal characteristics for high speed cornering, but I think the 458 wins out now.

I just bought a 458 and tuned it just slighty. That thing is a beast!
