What level have you guys found that physics start allowing for a rollover etc?

I dunno. I think rollovers are there from the start. At lvl 13 and I was able to roll my premium r33 skyline. It doesn't have the autoart 1/18 scale text

Weird. I have a 460hp skyline that I've done all sorts of nonsense in and haven't ever come close to rolling it. The suspension was one of the last things I added to it too.
Speaking of rolling hazards, has anyone purchased a vw bus? I'm wondering how tunable it is. I'll purchase one if I can get some significant power into it - but I'm not interested if it remains at 60hp or whatever it isCurrently Playing: Uncharted 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword

Here's a challenge from the later levels that we'll have to do...i don't think i have the reflexes and coordination for it. 2 laps of Suzuka under 2:10 total is just crazy...

Drivers will have to wear compression pants to withstand the 8g of cornering force, and even then they can't do it for too long, and the car's passenger compartment would have to be made out of unobtanium, or the tracks would need a mile of runoff area for this to be anywhere close to safe in real life.
But it's a nice videogame fantasy. -

Holy shit. I'm going to say right now that I don't think I could do that with a wheel; the controller might actually be better for that crazy amount of rapid twitch turning
No way I'm going to be able to do that anywayCurrently Playing: Uncharted 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword

i just bought gt5 last night. i do not get it why some reviews are so harsh on this game. i can understand that after 5 year in development everyone had very high expectations of the game. there are for sure some things that are not necessary but one thing i can say right all the way is that this game has much more to offer then forza. i do agree though that it is stupid to advertise 1000 cars or so and yet only premium cars have cockpit view and actually look good. i think gt5 should have been released with half of the cars but all cars should have have ps3 graphics and in cockpit view. other cars should have been released at later date as paid add on. say $.99 per car etc. i have not tried online play. so far this game is 9 out of 10 for me.

Yesterday I tested the wet night track for the first time. When I was presented with the tracks visuals after the loading, my jaws simply dropped, bounced on the ground and hit me on the head.
So, I start the race, and there are a few pixelated edges on my car due to the lack of bandwidth left available for such effects. Things started to get messy when all cars where near. The sprayed water caused tremendous frame drop, pixelation was everywhere and the fog/water spray effects didnt look pretty. Actually it looked ugly as long as all cars were together.
It was hectic though and the feeling was well represented. Adrenaline pumping with a G25, Mercedes SLS and limited visibility!! Amazing experience.
After the cars were spread and the particles werent as much the amount of detail had opened its door to marvel. The reflections were beautiful on the road. Never seen anything like it before. The lighting effects were everywhere and once I went in and out of the tunnel I felt orgasmic. I couldnt believe what I was seeing! Beautiful even though some objects werent reflected on the surface. There is also some crazy amount of attention to detail. The rain particles behave differently according to the speed and direction of the air. And they also seem to be lid based on the lights coming from the track. Very realistic. The problem in some areas dont seem to be a work of a rushed job but of limited hardware resources etc because that stage showed nothing but crazy effort. Kazunori I think didnt want to make compromises on the things he wanted to make even if he hit hardware bottlenecks
Second stage I tried was the snow. Again I was impressed by the visuals and the behavior of the snow particles. The falling snow flakes in the cockpit view were much more than when the car was viewed from the outside which I think again was either due to the limited bandwidth or the stage was like that or the snow flakes were supposed to be very thin and thus not very visible when moving. During the replay mode the snow flakes were more apparent
The Rome and Madrid stage, what can I say? Again mindblowing.
I also played some Nascar event. The stage wasnt like the most detailed but that was a simple basic track with not much to show. But damn!!
The feeling was crazy! I never cared about Nascar. This game (which I dont consider simply as a game any more) made me understand the tactics and skill behind Nascar. No its not going around in circles. Its how to use physics by taking the correct angles in order to help you get the maximum speed possible and above the others. I never expected from a simulation game to mimic the same thrill and "action" I got from arcade racers. But it did, and with a great dose of realism as well. On a track without real turns!
I am addicted to it now.
The menus although slow begun to grown in me, especially in the GT mode because its like a personal space with some customization that shows my progress and lots of goodies. If only they were faster to navigate.
I fucking love this game so far!!
Havent played enough to experience the butt ugly standard cars that some mention. So far the standard I saw looked fine. So probably I will experience them later
Karting thats how it is in real life. I karted with pretty fast ones and damn they are easy to spin or over drift. The first time I drove them I lost control many times and fell back. So far in the game I have tried the 2 first challenges which where beginner. They were very easy to pass them even if I spinned over in those. Very very easy. I ll check the later ones to comment.Last edited by Ergo-Proxy; 12-04-2010 at 12:55 PM.

you just pointed out some of the reason why some are harsh on this game. i've been playing this game for a week now and Forza 3 for almost a year and i personally can't say that GT5 will offer much more than Forza, i think both games offer a ton of things for driving game fans. i agree that they should of offered half the cars at premium and added more thru DLC.

I'm sure if you could stick your arms out the sides and hold them straight, you'd take flight in that thing.

Yeah, my roommate actually got me into it a little bit and it really is more than just a bunch of rednecks driving in a circle. I was driving just a random NASCAR race at Daytona and while I was in line with the other cars, I was doing well, but I got out of line, attempted to pass but my timing was off and couldn't get back in line, so I essentially dropped like a sack of bricks while the other cars, whose specs are roughly the same as mine, zoomed past me. Drafting physics are pretty important in NASCAR and those who use it well usually perform well.+32in Sanyo Vizon
