Default Valve says XBL "head and shoulders" above PSN

This is why people (like myself) have little issue paying $39.99-$49.99 for Live.

I agree with what he is saying. PSN is like a Chevy, It will get you where you want to go. Live is like a Mercedes, it gets you there in style.

Here you go

Quote:
Left 4 Dead project lead Chet Faliszek has said the 360 community is "head and shoulders above the PS3", and that's why the multiplayer-focused Left 4 Dead series isn't on Sony's console.

Speaking to CVG in a recent interview (read part one here) Faliszek said the community aspects of the PC and Xbox platforms "really fit" Left 4 Dead - so it's not coming out on PS3.

"Right now for Left 4 Dead 2 we're looking at PC and 360 because the community aspects really fit the game - it's all about playing with your friends," he said

"But that's the short term. What we're looking at for the long term... if it works out, it works out. Right now don't not buy it on the 360 because you think it's coming out on the PS3 - it's not going to. Right? It's coming out on the PC and 360. It's going to be exclusive for that."

Faliszek replied went on: "In hooking up with your friends and the community aspects, I think the Xbox 360 is head and shoulders above the PS3. The 360 and PC are on par, right?"

Look out for part two of our interview soon.

I wouldn't say head and shoulders, but clearly cross-game party chat makes it better. Otherwise if you just stick to in-game chat I have just as much fun playing my PS3 online as I do my 360.

Let's see... Valve:

Doesn't own PS3 SDKs.
Doesn't develop PS3 games.
Doesn't like the PS3.
Doesn't develop for the PSN.
Doesn't like the PSN.

I see a pattern here.

Oh yeah, I think I forgot to mention: Valve was founded and is run by ex-Microsoft employees who have so far shown how open they are to non-MS-produced platforms by not developing for them.

Valve talking shit about platforms they don't even know how to work on, let alone even KNOW about? It's hard to take ANYTHING they say honestly.

EDIT: I'd also like to point out the following,

Lets compare the 3 and see how the PC and 360 are "similar", shall we?

In game voice chat? PC: Yes. 360? Yes. PS3? Yes.
Party chat? PC: Yes (Vent/GFWL). 360? Yes (if you pay). PS3? No.
Cross-game invites? PC: No/Limited (GFWL). 360? Yes (if you pay). PS3? No/Limited (Home).
Game servers? PC: Yes. 360? No/Limited. PS3? Yes.
Free-to-play? PC: Yes. 360? No. PS3? Yes.
Mouse and keyboard support? PC: Yes. 360? No. PS3? Varies per-game + Splitfish controller support. Overall: Yes.
Mods? PC: Yes. 360? No. PS3: Varies per-game, but... yes.
DLC Marketplace? PC: Yes. 360? Yes. PS3? Yes.
32+ Player support? PC: Yes. 360? No/Limited. PS3? Yes.
Video chat? PC: Yes. 360? Yes. PS3? Yes.

The PC and 360 are so much more alike than the PS3 when you compare feat... oh wait, they're not.

I agree XBL is better, but its hard to take Valve's comments too seriously when they haven't developed a PS3 game. It gives their opinion less weight.

Personally, it doesn't take Valve to state this obvious thing. XBL > PSN.

However, I fully respect Valve and completely agree with their mild off hand assessment.

Stupid Quest for Booty taking 4 1/2 hours to download. Also, invite don't work that well on PSN, there lacks Cross Game Chat, Party systems...it's all game by game basis. The service itself is severely lacking. It's getting there...but it feels like the Early 2000's by comparison.

The gameplay experience on the PSN is far better in my experience. Then again I'm all about the best gameplay experience. Social chatting with people playing other games isn't why I fire up a console.
Spoiler:
I do have a mobile phone and a land phone that work fine for that

Yeah, I guess you haven't been called Twofuck, told to "get a life", told when to "expect" your next shit, and god knows how many other "better gameplay experiences".

What is it severely lacking compared to the 360 feature-wise? Outside of "cross-game invites and party chat" there's nothing else. Party chat didn't come out of the box on the 360 and it's only a year old, cross-game invites are the only thing 360 came out of the box with.

Don't worry, I won't. I'll be playing Modern Warfare 2 instead. It's head and shoulders above Valve's game.

@Indy

You forgot something in your list.

"Valve doesn't like Nvidia GPUs"

I still remember the pre-release statement of Gabe Newell.

"NVIDIA FX cards aren't real DX9 graphics cards. They are totally underpowered for it and that's why some essential graphic features of Half Life 2 will only be available on ATI cards. ATI, THE REAL WAY IT's MEANT TO BE PLAYED"

Something along those lines.
