Default If true - looks like November NPD is going to the 360 -

Helluva deal for the arcade, if true -

http://kotaku.com/5395950/xbox-360-w...0-this-weekend

Partly posting for the samckdown, and partly posting so all know about the deal. I am picking up an extra for my daughter as an xmas gift.

I get the feeling that Wal Mart isn't going to have a lot of Arcade's in stock, and they're just using these amazing deals to get you into the store. In reality, very very few will actually get their hands on one, and will not get their hands on one.

I'm still curious on the October margin however before I declare a winner for November.

Dave posted the rumor in the Forza x GT thread. Great deal in my book but I will say it now that an HDD should be purchased as well, new/used/refurb. The 60gb pro starter pack is the perfect candidate. For someone who isn't a big gamer, the memory card should be sufficient. I think this is part of MS's way to purge some overstock of arcades. I noticed the other day in the game aisle of 2 big stores that there were more arcades than elites on the shelves.

For my 7 year old? No way, she doesnt need an HD. She gets 1 game every 2 weeks through gamefly, beats it and returns it. But they arent games that need an HD, its games like Bolt, Ice Age, etc.

But for people who do their food shopping at wally world, it is effectively, a 360 arcade for $100 bucks.

Damn good deal in my eyes. Especially so close to christmas.

It is a great deal even if youonly use it as a media extender. I think people will see the price tag and flock to it like a fat kid towards cake, or a bulimic towards the toilet.

This isn't smackdown. But since Wallmart isn't tracked by npd it won't help it out.

as noted above... wm isnt tracked by npd so it wont effect it at all unless this "deal" is mirrored at other stores.

sides any real gamer will need to buy a HD... how much does a MS approved HD cost anyway not much of a savings if you ask me. just buy a supah elite. smarter value that way. 250 gigs and a pack in game... 2 controllers? much better.

They estimate Wal-Mart sales.

Really? And people knock VG Chartz

Anyway, great deal but if true. Though it's only one day and arcade units aren't exactly plentifully stocked at Walmarts. This sounds like a great way to clear out excess stock.

Are you sure about that?

During the format war it was said repeatedly that NPD numbers do not include Walmart... they report only what is sold/scanned at the register for the stores that they cover. Least for dvds and high def media... I would think that would apply to games and game consoles as well.

Walmart keeps their sale info to themselves and analyst only guess at it.

Yeah, just coming to post the same thing.

Still a great deal, but a one-week promotion at one store (granted, the biggest store) will have a limited impact IMO.

Or they could limit the amount of GC's they give out on this deal. WM ran a deal similar to this a cpl of years ago where you got a $50 gc w/ the purchase of the 20gb 360. Although there were no signs saying so, they limited the gc to a certain amount of consoles.

And in case you are wondering how I know, I picked one up during that deal and had to fight to get the gc. They tried to say that they had given out their limit. But like I stated above, they did not have a sign up stating it was limited to x amount of consoles so I made them own up to it.

Considering the amount of options today, I would hold off on this deal and get an elite. I see Kmart is offering Halo ODST free w/ purchase of an Elite holiday bundle on Black friday.

Well in terms of the NPD's theres also this for the PS3:

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/03/ga...ost-price-cut/

The 360 deal is pretty good, but it's not happening in Canada . I guess it works out to a free HDD if the consumer wants one.

Yes but a sale like this won't drastically change there estimations. Since they have no data on how many units will be stocked for a sale like this. There estimations I think are more if we track 40% so the rest of the market is aprox 2.5x what we tracked.

Look back at the days of the HD war, whenever walmart had a huge sale it did not have any major impact on the sales from previous months.
