not to familiar with xbox's, but is the jasper or the falcon the preferred model? ive had a ps3 since launch, but i think i have to bite on the $99 offer

careful, it's not $99. It's $199, and then you get a $100 walmart gift card. Also, as people have suggested, there may be only 10 per store

Jasper is the newest model, and supposedly runs cooler than the falcon (it pulls less power). It also has larger internal memory iirc

for how much i go to wal mart (college student ) its $99 to me. so the jasper model is the preferred. hopefully i wake up in time to get one. on the plus side, there are 3 wal marts in my area.

Exactly how I feel. My wife does about half her food shopping at wal mart, so it is effectively a $99 system for some.

Believe it or not, this is how I helped one of my professors buy a PS3 for Blu Ray with a deal, and was like "it's $100 in diapers it's good to me".

Nahh, liking a good deal doesnt make you a fanboy. I took advantage of the ps3 + $100gc deal way back to buy my sister's family (they are financially constrained) a ps3, and I gave my other sister the $100 gc as a baby shower gift.

Nothing really to be careful about. In the end the system costs $99 as the gift card can be used on anything in the store, like real money. I'm sure people can easily spend $100 in a store like walmart.

I came across something yesterday that said this deal was black friday only... which in that case i 1000000000000000000000% refuse to even participate in. I will never, ever ever go BF shopping ever again after my experiences few years prior. Slammin deal, but not enough for me to deal with savagery of human nature

It's definitely a nice niche, but the real analysis is if the deal will actually end up selling xbox 360's to customers that would not have bought them or if a big group if not a majority are those that would've gotten 360's anways to buy the system. Given that there will probably be long lines to get this deal, I'd bet on the latter.

In the end, this might boost purchases by a few ten k in the US. Maybe it will win the month of november for the US but its just one tiny battle in a long, long war.

It's a different situation because in HD-DVD's case the demand wasn't there. If people don't care about something a low price won't make much difference.

I doubt there will be of a spike in sales from a Black Friday deal, Walmart is going to be losing money on each of these sales so you know there's going to be a fairly limited supply of them. It's just an excuse to get people lined up at the door and in the store to buy stuff.
