Dude, it's COD, not TF2. The level of intelligence of the average COD player is so low that it's pointless to talk strategy unless you're playing with friends. 5 people could be screaming "Don't cap C" but someone will always do it just for the +15xp.

Microsoft should give IW the finger on this. Party Chat's draw is that you can talk with your friends regardless of what game they're playing. That's why it's nifty to a lot of people. It keeps people together. I don't view it as earthshaking smackdown, but it does kind of chip the armor of that talking point a little. I do see it starting a trend, though.

Dont see what the big deal is... just closing a hole for folks who exploit the system for an unfair advantage... it may inconvenience some but it's good for the game. If talking to your buds is that important, then play a different game while they are on or better yet, play together.

The big deal is this...1.) you don't fix the exploit, people can still chat outside of XBL, and thus cheat 2.) you enable a feature that allows people to party across games from XBL, which is bad because its' punishing people who haven't done something wrong 3.) can be fixed by removing aspects from game that allow death/ghost/roving after death - without changing chat parties.

I think they're doing this as a favor to IW because this is such a big game.

Yes they could... but it is harder... heck they could always just talk over the phone or power up their PC and use Vent... there are a lot of ways to exploit the system... but this plugs up 1 of the holes.

This makes things harder and more inconvenient to cheat... may not solve the problem 100% but if it even discourages 1 person it is enough.

I am open to them allowing folks to use it still... as long as your game then does not count towards your "score". Want to play and talk to your buds, sure but your game does not count in the leader-board or rankings or your achievements/trophies etc... Wonder how many will still want to talk to their buds then?

The only game that I've had problem with party cheaters is in Bad Company. Team killing at its finest.

good ol' activision, maybe they'll come up with call of duty hero too, that comes with a gun controller that you have to rhythmically press buttons to kill terrorists

Sorry, I had to. Anyway, this is pretty stupid. The first thing I thought when I read this was, what stops them from using chat from their PC? I have a PC and two laptops in the same area as my PS3 (presumably where my Xbox360 would be if I had one), it takes no extra effort to hop into a vent channel or some other type of chat and cheat that way. In fact, it’s probably safer to cheat that way, who could ever possibly know besides those involved?

And my take is Activision can make demands of MS that most other companies wouldn't be able to do. Even though they are making MS change there policies they are willing to bend over backwards to make the producers of MW2 happy.
