PS3 Failures... had 'em?

That is weird BBM, two consoles going bad so quickly one after the other.

is it even your Xbox could somebody have swapped it out when you were away?

It is not unlikely but damned unfortunate. I still think its funny that the root cause of both failures is the same thing. They are too busy attacking each other they didn't bother check the hardware. They figured "whats the worst that could happen?"

It's bad luck, really. But Godstar has the same 360 I do and his crapped out, but I thought I'd avoid it because my usage habits on the 360.

I think BBM needs to stop keeping his consoles in his microwave.

I recorded my 360 RRODing with my phone but sadly, for some reason, the video files don't work on my PS3 or my laptop. Strange....

But it's funny because now it's seems to work fine. One of the few 360s to have a Red Ring of Death and live to tell the tale. It still seems like my 360 is pretty much finished, it's just a matter of time. Which is a shame because I still have two weeks or so of XBL left and it'd be a shame for it to shit out during the month of Live I bought.

Though if it does go belly up for keeps, that'll be bad karma biting it in the ass because when it was malfunctioning, it tried to eat my new Halo 3 disc. >_<

Well, if you're still under the three year warranty you might want to put the box out of its misery. Torture the box until it dies. Heck use a towel if you have to. One of my 360s was getting close to the end of the warranty and I needed it to die ASAP (it was suffering from intermittent RROD and disk read errors for about three months). A quick gaming session with the console wrapped in a towel did the trick.

The trick is to try and swap the console every year. I swapped two Xbox 360s, and one PS3 without taking any sort of a hit. I usually wait until the consoles are bundled with a few decent games before buying a new one, and then I usually flip the games for some cash. I also provide the buyer with a copy of my receipt for warranty purposes.
