Splinter Cell Conviction is a true Microsoft Exclusive?
http://www.vg247.com/2009/06/19/spli...ever-says-ubi/Splinter Cell Conviction on PS3? Never, says Ubi
If you were holding out for Splinter Cell Conviction to eventually make its way to PS3, you’re out of luck. Ubi just said on its forums that it really is an MS exclusive thanks to a “link of heart” between the franchise and the platform.
“Splinter Cell Conviction is a true Microsoft exclusive title and there are no plans to have Splinter Cell Conviction on other platforms,” said the company.
“There are several reasons behind this choice. First of all, Splinter Cell games are historically linked with Microsoft platforms. The first Splinter Cell on the original Xbox was one of the first games to fully exploit the console’s technical possibilities. At that time, Microsoft really believed in the game potential and provided strong support to promote it. So, there is a “link of heart” between the franchise and the platform. Some games are like this (think of Final Fantasy for instance).
“The second reason behind this choice is purely linked to production. Having a single target platform means that we can optimize the game even further, because we only have one type of - console - hardware to support.”
It’s out at the end of this year. Assuming you’re not solely reliant on PS3, obviously.
Well, atleast we know this game won't a port limited to multiplatform design.“The wolf has come down from the north and your fat little town is safe no longer!” Dr. Charles Henry Moffet. Airwolf. Oct. 6, 1984.

no, i never liked the splinter cell franchise. couldn't decide if it wanted to be stealth or 3rd person action.
"all this talk", do you mean someone here promoted SC:C possibly coming to PS3?
perhaps i missed it. i would be happy to mock whoever did.
both sony and MS have lots of very exclusive "2nd" party devs, so again, not sure what's so exciting to brag about. -

I was unaware anyone was even thinking it might come to the PS3.
And I'm in the same boat as Michaelo in never liking the Splinter Cell franchise. There's not a single one I've played for more than an hour or so. -

I'm suprised.. basically all Splinter Cell games up until this point have been released on both MS/Sony consoles, this gen and last. Double Agent is on both.

By the way, don't judge Splinter Cell off it's PS2 and GC ports. They were seriously gimped! And I mean Seriously. Unless you were playing it on Xbox or PC, you don't get to comment on the series.

I believe it completly outdid thief, yes. Nothing hard to imagine about it IMO. Chaos Theory being the crowning achievement and even had an excellent MP offering. I imagine you played the PS2 or GC versions of Splinter Cell... where in some places you couldn't even shoot out the lights so you couldn't use stealth in those sections anyways. Bleh....

have only played the original splinter cell on PC, and perhaps another one on the OG xbox.
didn't care for much of anything i saw.
however, the Thief series will always be the pinnacle of stealth games for me.
unless i have to accept (by force) that Deadly Shadows exists. -

Thief is too old and outdated now. It's not just the graphics, but the actual game mechanics feel clunky today.
