Kinect Support Coming to Skyrim
Going to love this for switching weapons, which is kind of cumbersome the way it is currently setup.Fully knowing that you can’t get enough of your favorite dragon shouts, we’re pleased to announce that Kinect for Xbox 360 support is coming to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Available for free as a title update slated for release this month, Skyrim Kinect for Xbox 360 Support will feature more than 200 Voice Commands… including the game’s dragon shouts.
In addition to Dragon Shouts, the Kinect for Xbox 360 integration offers voice commands throughout the game including Hotkey Equipping, Follower Commands, and all Menus (Items, Magic, Map, Barter, Container, Favorites, and Skills). With Voice Commands, quickly create and load saves during gameplay and access menus and inventories. Skyrim’s Kinect for Xbox 360 Support also adds new functionality including special map functions, additional hotkey options, and the ability to sort inventory items by name, weight, and value.
To get an early look at Kinect for Xbox 360 support, watch the video above featuring programmer Ricardo Gonzalez, who put together the preliminary concept for Kinect for Xbox 360 Support during the Skyrim Game Jam.
A full list of Voice Commands will be revealed in the coming weeks, and we’ve got more Skyrim news coming. Bethesda Game Studios has been hard at work on creating the first set of game add-ons that will be exclusive to the Xbox 360. This additional content will add new quests, locations, features, and much more to the world of Skyrim. Stay tuned for more details.

They probably should have concentrated on that during the development time. I guess they thought they would get away with releasing mediocrity?
regardless, I do wonder whats so special about the kinect microphone that accepts voice-commands, and your free packed-in mic that apparently outputs a different language. -

The Bioware guys said MS provides the voice SDK for Kinect, making it an easy addition.
I think voice commands can be useful in certain situations, like equipping a new weapon set, which is cumbersome in Skyrim IMO, but for common actions, hitting a button is easier. That being the case, not wearing a headset for a 40+ hour game and simply using the voice command when needed is more desirable to me. I’d rather hear my surround sound then have an ear covered the whole time. It’s “mild usage” as michealo would say, but purely additive.DarkRedRain (XBL, PSN, WiiU)

I'm pretty sure a lot of the voice stuff is done on the kinect, before it's sent to the xbox.

Sure, voice-commands can be useful in certain situations, hence they being used in gaming prior to kinect. I think its brilliant that MS forces an expensive add-on in order to incorporate tasks that could be done on much cheaper equipment, some of it even 3rd party where they wouldnt see a dime at all. Brilliant move. An option to use kinect or your packed in mic would have been a better approach for the consumer, but business is business.

doesn't really tell me much. I don't know if that chip has anything to do with voice-control, 3d imaging or a host of other kinect functions. I highly doubt kinect is the sole reason voice-control can work with the 360 in this case. I have a feeling it would have worked equally as well with a regular mic if they had wanted it to.

Guess I was wrong. Seems they took out the processor they had originally planned, and a lot is done on the 360:
