Sony paying for Killzone Reviews,The $545 Press Kit Exposed
http://games.kikizo.com/features/kil...exposed-p1.asp
Click link for pics http://games.kikizo.com/features/kil...exposed-p2.aspHype surrounding Killzone 2 is pretty much fever picth, even though there's a month until release.
Some people can get carried away in all the excitement, but it takes a really enthusiastic fan to shell out £400 - around $545 at today's exchange rate - for a press kit.
But it must be said, this is a particularly lovely press kit, with a gorgeous art book any PS3 fan would be mad not to want. Sony issued the kits out to the press to get review preparations underway, but only very occasionally does a game publisher go to such effort to include such an appealing promotional item with the review code.
The ludicrous sum paid by the eBay user to get one unnamed journalist's copy of the press kit is a testament to how rare this 16-page artwork and information book really is. And if the seller got found out, it would probably end their relationship with Sony, considering the listing for the kit included the review code itself, as well as a disc with loads of screenshots and artwork that's not supposed to be published until reviews come out on February 3.
One of those reviews will be ours, naturally; we've been among the lucky folk drooling over the Killzone swag in question. The promotional book may be impossible to track down, but Sony's said it's OK for us to show you it, so we've done our best to present the pages to you in the following images, on this and the following page.
Remember when MS sent out gifts for Halo 3 reviews and we all heard people complain

It's a fancy artbook with the game?

uhhhh, giving out a free 360 and a fan buying a press kit on ebay are two totally. and. completely. different. things.
closing thread for numerous reasons.Last edited by michealo; 01-23-2009 at 07:50 PM.

Not familiar with the Halo 3 stuff, but I hardly consider this (or Halo 3 if comperable) "paying" for reviews. Especially something that resold to a fan for a whopping $545. Just my two cents on the matter.

This is very different.
The kit includes the game, not the final version mind you, and an artbook. It's just that an idiot paid $545 for it, not that it's worth that much, and doesn't cost much to sony.
For halo, they sent out a free console, deluxe version of the game, t-shirts, and other stuff, so it was really costing MS hundreds of dollars.
So your attempt at smackdown fails, MS is and has always been much more evil. -

If a reviewer isn't capable of being honest, and is capable of being bought off by a 16 page picture book...well, that's not an issue with Sony.
This thread has a dumb title. It's not accurate at all.
As for Halo 3...well, I don't think that was bought off either, even considering that was much more extreme than this example. Look at Gerstmann gate for an example of crossing the line. You want fanboy stupidity? Look at the opening post in this thread. -

Wow this is failure, coupled with an incredibly misleading title. Sony isn't paying for reviews.
