Factor in HD gaming costing more to develop, shovelware is even more present on the Wii. Note though, that big multiplatform titles are spread across all 3 platforms (see Rock Band/Guitar Hero, EA sports titles, etc... and also note I'ld much rather play the HD versions of sports titles over the Wii's version) But I wouldn't really say the PS2 was a casual cutesy kiddie console...

I disagree that the Wii is in the PS2's last gen position, the Wii's awsome hardware sales aren't leading to an awsome game library. Historically when a system slaughter's its competition hardware sales, 3rd party devs want to put its best games on that system and reap the benefits. With the Wii the opposite is happening. 3rd party developer's are only putting crappy games on the Wii because its not worth it to spend big $$ developing a great game.

The Wii doesn't get the same great multi-platform games that the 360 and PS3 get to balance out all of its crap shovelware. And when the Wii does get a multi-platform game its dumbed down beyond reason. So the quality of the Wii's game library overall is the worst in the history of gaming. The PS2 got almost all multi-platform games to go along with it's great exclusives.

Although I don't care much for yahoo games, they have an article up right now about Wii's poor game library.

In the end I think the Wii could end up outselling the PS2 hardware #'s because of its massive appeal to casuals. But the Wii will never be in the PS2's position in the industry because of its software issues.

I actually posted a thread about an article discussing this last year... Not much has changed since then and not much looks to change.

My daughter loves the Hannah Montana Wii game btw
