It's 8-5-0 in GOTYs for PS3, 360, and Wii, respectively. 4-1-0 if you only want to count exclusives. And IGN is still coming, and they're going to give it either to GTA IV or MGS4 or maybe LBP.
lol.. you made your own rules for the "official" game of the year thread.
Sony gave the gamer no extra rights than last gen.. in fact, they took free online away.. with a standing ovation.

The rules make sense, and not a single person objected to them. All the major sites/pubs are represented, even the Fable-loving X-Play. As I said in the thread, I will put up any suggestions people put down, assuming they're not crap (the only one I rejected so far was Joystiq, since it's a blog).

It makes sense that the topic creator makes the rules, and these rules are quite reasonable.

Just because people didn't say anything doesn't mean they agreed with "your" rules.

See I can play that game, too.

The answer is in your very post. By your logic, on Planet Earth, Wii games > 360 games. You and I both know that's patently absurd. On Planet Earth.

So yeah, Badger was right. On Planet Earth.

You can't, because there was no debate about the validity of those rules. Even die-hard Xbox fans posted in that thread peacefully and didn't complain about the rules (which, you know as well as I do, make total sense). The incident you're referring to involved an acrimonious debate where people who would potentially agree with WI didn't post at all. Here, there is no acrimonious debate, and even people that would typically be against me as a person (e.g., KTA) posted.

Besides, I never said everyone agreed with them. All I said was no one actively disagreed. I don't know even know why we're having this conversation. That thread is perfectly fine.

That is grossly absurd and blatantly preposterous in it's absence of logic. You don't get to tell me what I can and can not do. One member (or even a few members) is hardly representative of the entire forum. You have no way of speaking for the entire forum and to think you do shows clear signs of delusions of grandeur.

Besides, I'm not saying "your" rules are right or wrong, only how silly it is to think you can force them on other individuals.

    Err... no.

Haha, okay. You're right, you CAN (but it doesn't make sense).

As I said in that thread, I welcome contributions. And, of course, if someone feels the thread is inadequate, they are free to make their own. So far, it has served its role quite well and has generated lots of peaceful discussion. The only controversy about it is actually being introduced by you, right here -- and not out of any actual criticism for the thread, but as a way to burn me on some totally unrelated criticism I had of a week-old post by you.

I can even remove the word "official" from the thread title, if it bugs you that much.

    What the hell?

That is utter nonsense. It's *my* thread -- of course I can. I'm the one with the OP, so I'm the only one other than the mods who can change the GOTY list. Those that don't like it can make criticisms (which I'll certainly listen to), or not post in the thread.

Similarly, if you start your own thread, you can "force" your own conventions on other people. That's how thread posting works.

This is like saying that someone that makes a poll thread is "forcing" his poll choices on other people and has no "right" to do so. Well, DUH.

Honestly, the only point you could possibly make was naming the thread "official" was presumptuous. Of course, people do that all the time all over the net, so.... I thought I was providing a small service compiling that information in one thread for easy perusal. But no -- apparently I'm "forcing" it on people.

You misunderstood, sorry if I wasn't clear enough, I'm saying "your" rules have no relevance in this thread.

Whaaa...? I made a thread compiling GOTYs from the major publications and sites and TV awards. That is all I did. It is not a biased list, it it a simple representation of major GOTYs. Those results are reasonable and are perfectly adequate to the debate currently going on about Badger's "Games: PS3 > 360 > Wii" claim. It's not like I threw a bunch of awards from OPM in there, or something. X-Play, IGN, GameSpot, Eurogamer, Edge, GameSpy -- they're all there.

Sometimes I'm seriously at a loss when I talk to you. Even when I'm being totally transparent and reasonable and not hostile, I get this crap.

It's a shame that a deep and disturbingly strong relationship and love affair with a console will cause sudden, off-the-wall emotional outbursts for no reason other than pure jealousy....Maybe some sort of console re-hab is needed..

I'm not disagreeing with your thread or the logic of the thread. I'm simply pointing out that just because no one in the thread objected doesn't mean everyone agreed. Nor, is it fair to transplant the rules of that thread into this one and expect everyone to accept being bashed over the head with them. Who is being hostile? We are all civilized adults here.

Then there is no problem. The GOTY tally I typed stands as a valid debate point in this thread.

I'm simply pointing out that just because no one in the thread objected doesn't mean everyone agreed.
As I already said once: I never said that means everyone agrees. All I said was that no one actively disagreed. Thus, it stands, until someone makes a compelling argument as to why the results in that thread are invalid. (For example: "Eurogamer is not a major site." Or, "I have photographic evidence of GameSpot being paid off for their GOTY selection." Or, "You need to put bumfuckgamer.com in there.)

Nor, is it fair to transplant the rules of that thread into this one and expect everyone to accept being bashed over the head with them.
Those who don't want to accept them have but to find some flaw in that thread's "rules." Since no one seems to have a problem with them so far, I don't see any issue, and thus it IS fair. Also, I'm not "bashing" anyone's head. I'm making a debate point in a civil fashion by providing a reasonable tally of 2008 GOTYs. That debate point stands, because the underlying list is reasonable.

This tangent is literally about nothing. No one even criticized the GOTY list, so there is nothing to discuss.

You are the last person who needs to criticize anyone on their affection for a console. The last person who displayed as much love for their PS3 as you do stated they would have sex with it, if they could.

    I am not joking.
