Makes you wonder who is more stupid, MS for their cost-cutting decisions that lead to the RROD in the first place or people who actually keep rebuying 360's after a RROD failure and then come to forums to moan on how bad it is. Here's a tip, dont buy a 360, no more RROD, problem solved!

If it were only that simple.

I got a new one today. So I can play online once more.
    Great quotes on the internet:

I hear Galaxy is brilliant, and it probably is. Just can't picture myself sitting down and playing it. That would take time away from watching the Disney Channel and working on my coloring book.

This is something that I have mentioned before, but I really wonder how much of the 360 install base number is comprised of 1) replacement units, and 2) second or third 360 units for an individual home/user (e.g. a 360 in the family room and bedroom).

We know for a fact that sales from both of these situations do exist (there's one guy here on HDD who claims to have 4 360s ). And with RRoD and the lower cost of the 360, it can't be reasonably argued that the PS3 has similar sales (multiple units to one owner).

    My guess: 5-10%.

I myself have two. Perhaps, a better indicator of the true 1-to-1 install base would be software sales between the PS3 and the 360. You could use the sales to interpolate the actual values of the install base, assuming the PS3 has less owners of multiples. But, in the end, it's all just guesstimation.

Ah, yes. Sorry about that. I rarely use my real birthday when signing up for online things.

That said, I very much appreciate your thoughtfulness.
