Default BioShock PS3 dev: 'Blu-ray hasn't made much difference' PS3 DLC 'right now exclusive

Quote:
When asked if the Blu-ray format had provided any advantages to the development team, Miller replied: "In terms of specific things, it hasn't made much difference. The original game fit on a 360 disk so it wasn't like we were in need of room. We've tried to do what we can to make sure that the PS3 looks just as great as the 360, but in terms of necessarily utilising something specific about Blu-ray, to my knowledge, Blu-ray hasn't necessarily made a huge difference."

"Right now we are supporting the PS3 launch. We are really excited to be bringing the BioShock experience to a whole new set of fans. We've been concentrating on ways to make this game special. The things that we've added, they're not changing the original experience that the 360 fans and the PC fans got, but are things that compliment nicely that experience."

When asked if that answer meant no, Miller replied: "The answer is no. Right now this is a PS3 exclusive."

This is one game I might buy twice if its worth it.

Any of you PS3 owners out there who bitched and moaned at how little interest you had in this game, BUY IT! You will seriously enjoy this game, it's immense.

Look forward to playing it through once again, also look forward to all of the fresh topics created in forums by PS3 users new to the game.

Bioshock is a masterpiece.

It's also the only 1st person shooter I've completed this gen. I'm normally sick of the genre but this one was very different.

Ditto. Who cares about this aside from the people who couldn't play it last year. Give me some Bioshock 2 news.

I can't imagine a blu-ray would make a difference for porting over Super Mario Brother either.

Lol pretty unnecessarily inflammatory post

I'm not sure if I'll pick this up or not. Most of my friends played it on PC last year and enjoyed it - but I have so many games and too little time right now

It's the game that should push others (temporarily) to the curb

Meh, it's completely overrated. The last half of the game is one of the biggest waste of time. It's so unsatisfying, and borders the line of tedium.

The first half of Bioshock is rather great, almost perfect. The last half...not so much.

This boycott was started out of respect for the artist. As we all know...Sony or MM don't have any.

I won't rebuy it... I am, however, playing it again right now. I am trying to get the "brass balls" achievement for finishing the game on hard without dying.

I am running a lot right now... the bouncers/rosies/big daddies are really hard when you can't let yourself get killed for any reason.

Yeah lazy assholes. All it would take is finding the uncompressed sound which I wouldn't be surprised if they still had it up and just dump it on the BR along with the game. Lossless should be standard in games on the PS3. BR provides MORE then enough space for this to be possible.
I don't see how BR couldn't make a difference in this game having better textures or even including them uncompressed perhaps.

NEWSFLASH: A game that started on on DVD for the 360 and PC, is not using the Blu-ray drive to it's advantage...

Duh.....

If you ever have any doubt that the Blu-ray drive might not be advantagous, may I suggest playing some PS3 exclusives like MGS4, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank. This will surely change your mind.

IN OTHER NEWS:

The PS3 port of Joust does not fill a Blu-ray disk either, for the same reason.

Bioshock 2 PS3 exclusive. Devs say there is simply not enough space on the 360's DVD to make a game worthy of the Bioshock title. It's going to be a PS3/BD exclusive from this point on...

I that good enough for you?
