November: Gears 2 vs Resistance 2

I'll keep this short. I bought Gears on day one and absolutely loved it (still do). Though Im not a fan of the MP, I just love everything else about it - especially the co-op. To me, thats what made this game so great. I will forsure be getting Gears 2 on day one and am very much looking forward to it.

Resistance 2 - I didnt care for, borrowed a buddys copy and turned it off within an hour. To me, it was just another generic, bland and quite boring FPS. Nothing amazing or revolutionary like Gears was. I hated the controls, graphics werent anything great and it just felt stale to me.

So my question is, both games come out in the same week of Nov. Which will sell more? Which do you guys think will be better?

I obviously dont think (but know) that Gears 2 will be much better. THe vids Ive seen of Gears 2 make it look like the best shooter of the year easily - no other shooter out this year is even on the same wavelength as Gears 2. Whereas R2 just looks meh, whats so great about it? Anyone care to tell me? Without the 60 player online, it wouldnt get half the hype it is now. Im still willing to give this game a chance, but Im still not sold on it and will most likely rent first. I personally think it looks more of the same with R1.

But honestly, does R2 even stand a chance?

Gears will sell more and probably review better. Which one will actually be better? I'll have to wait until I've played both.

is there really any doubt outside of Sony's camp that Gears of War 2 will just curb stomp the hell out of Resistance Fall of Man 2? Come on now.

I question it myself. I think that both games look like they will be good times, but its too soon to say which will actually be more fun to play

Someone show me some amazing footage of R2, because right now with the state that Im in (been sick of FPS since Xmas of 07, and have yet to buy a shooter this year), I pretty much have to be blown away by any FPS shooter now to even consider buying it. Theres just far too much rehashed junk out there, frankly not even worth my time renting.

If im not blown away by R2, it wont be anything more than a rental.

Resistance wasn't as good as Gears of War, in my opinion, but I still think it was a good game and the second one seems like it will be improving on a lot of the first game's deficiencies. Gears of War 2 is also making some improvements. My gut feeling is that Gears 2 will probably end up being a little better, but I still chose the last option because I don't like to make final judgements until the games are actually finished.

Gears will sell more, might be 2x more. But which will be better will be contested through 2010.

Gears is like crack to 360 owners. Except crack doesn't lag.

I'm pretty much the exact opposite that you are.

Gears 1 didn't impress me and I didn't like the art style / direction of the game at all.

What I'm looking forward to:
2-8 player co-op.
Separate story for co-op.
Continuation of Res1 story.
60 player online.
Leviathan
New stuff they've added.

I enjoyed Resistance a lot and thought Gears was meh.

I voted GOW2 because I didnt like Resistance but the first Gears was pretty good.

Qore episode 2 (a freebie, thank OPSM) had some bad ass footage of R2 and a side by side comparison of R1 and R2, night and day difference. The textures are far and away better and the motion capture makes it more realistic. So to vote it's a big jump up in quality and look. It said to play faster and more intense than the last one. Using R1 as a basis for this poll is flawed logic.

I'm sure Resistance 2 will be very good. Maybe the best *1st* Person shooter for the year... who knows.

But I don't think it can stand comfortably next to Gears of War II. It's marketing will be insane as the first was a hell of an intense game and is still incredibly popular today.
