Should the Wii be disqualified from ''Winning" this generation?

The wii is in a totaly different league than the 360 and ps3, i would actually qualify it as a contender for the handheld war, you know with ist inferior graphics and all.

so should it be disqualified?

if I had a choice to eliminate than yeah I would. I just don't think its a console from this generation. the visuals and hardware are from last generation. and the motion crap, well I find no joy in it. I was playing with my cousin on a 42 inch hdtv and it look liked crap. I was like take this shit off.

I don't see why people keep trying to make arguments that the wii isn't "next gen"... I think some are stuck in an unfortunate state of mind that the only thing that defines "next gen" are "prettier graphics"... I'm not so sure about that one, there is a whole bunch the wii can do that last gen consoles could not, so why are we trying to discount it?

It's funny how quickly people disqualified the Wii simply because it came out of nowhere to kick the crap out of the PS3 and 360.

I voted yes for obvious reasons, no HD, no online gaming. Although its still a gaming console and a highly successful one at that. Kinda a throw up, but I say leave it to the "real" gaming machines with all the whistles. my .02

WHile it's online gaming may not be great it is there and is continuing to evolve with each major suporting game. Mario Kart online works flawlessly for me, the only thing it is missing is voice chat but then again GT5P doesn't have it either so I guess racing games were not meant to have it or something.

As for the OP, people buy the Wii for the same dman reasons we buy ps3s and 360s....to have FUN. I'd be upset if I did not own all 3 systems this gen and miss out on some great exclusive content from all of the camps. And how is the Wii not part of this generation of video games, just because it only supports 480por has slighlty better graphics capabilities than the GC? For certain tv/ps3 owners that is as good of resolution as some of their games get as well . The ONLY thing that defines a generation of gaming is the release year/time frame compared to it's predecessor. Trying to discount the Wii because "your" system is losing to it is just idiotic.

EDIT: Also, the question is a simple yes/no so whats up with that 3rd option?

The Wii is Nintendos next generation console, simple as that. Some may not see it that way because it means they're favorite console will more than likely not "win" this gen. Sour grapes from both the fans and MS/Sony. You don't hear much from those companies reguarding the wii since they started to really pull away, they just attack one another now. Like two bottom feeders fighting over scraps(hardcore gamers).

This is a slippery slope, there isnt a spec check list that every console has to hit to be considered "next gen". It IS the next generation, it just didnt push the envelope in areas that were pushed and it COMFORTABLY slipped in under the bar. It brought in alot of new gamers into the mix, most of them never even graduated past Wii Sports, but in spite of it all, the system is Nintendo's version of next gen. Who are we to say it isnt at all? The consumers obviously out voted every naysayer with their dollars, and isnt that the most important vote of all?

Of course i say this with mine collecting dust and glowing blue with a bright "turn me on i got new stuff to check out" light, its ignored and neglected.
