PS3's 'scaling' chip is very rudimentary. It cannot scale video on both the y and x axis - it can only scale vertically.

This is a stark contrast to Xbox 360's video scaler, which was specifically build to handle scaling of any supported HDTV standard resolution, and scale to any other HDTV standard supported resolution (and then some).

Sony won't fix this anytime soon, if at all.

lol you always make me laugh, 360 may have built in scaling which is fine but the trouble is anything the 360 does which involves switching the damn thing on kills it!

The ps3 sucks because it never gives fellatio to completion. My 360, however, just laps it up like a champ.
