Default Japan Reverts To Xbox Ignoring Habits

LOL at the xbots who thought this would last.. Maybe next year you can have another week...

The Xbox 360's Japanese victory over its hi-def console competitor was short lived. Xbox buying fever has broken in a big way overseas, with the flagging console returning to last place on the Media Create hardware charts. Not that Sony's PlayStation 3 is doing that much better right now. At least Microsoft can blame its drop on depleted stock.

The success story this week though is that of the Nintendo DS, which extends its lead over the PSP by a hefty margin. The numbers you need are below.

* Nintendo DS - 78,666
* PSP - 64,413
* Wii - 53,036
* PlayStation 3 - 11,393
* PlayStation 2 - 10,168
* Xbox 360 - 7,358

ithought the 360 was completely sold out in Japan? Guess they found 7000 or so? This smells of shortages.

It still sold about twice what it normally sells. And they claim they have a shortage too.
Of course it wasn't going to last but this is still pretty good for them. Oh, and when Star Ocean, the Last Remnant etc. hit they should make sure they have stock

Still triple the normal sales and they're supposedly sold out constraining supply.

Not sure what your point is.

Yeah. Supposedly the whole country was sold out, yet they sold 7k. Sounds like they were never supply constrained in the first place.

I fail to see how shipping 7k consoles in a week is an impossability

but the ps3 was falling in japan compared to the 360. darkfalz said so. damn he's victory sure was short lived. if a rpg can help it outsell the ps3 for more than one week its pretty safe to say its never gonna gain any ground in japan.

you are incorrect that is closer to 3x its normal sales. So that doesn't smell like shortages, it smells like normal japan habbets. Next week I suspect it will just be over 4k.
