I got tired today of reading thread after thread by one of our OCD board members who constantly, fervently, adamantly praises the 360 no matter what.

Hey sorry I got bored.

(and I promise to try and do a reverse smackdown thread at a later date as some fans..................are really getting on my nerves.)

So time for some smackdown:


How many games can the 360 do with 256 online players on the same map?

None, zero, zip.

How many 360 256 online players on a single map GAME is John Carmack doing?

None, zero, zip.

The 360 does not have the power to do a game like this:
(please feel free to show a 360 console developer doing a project like this for the 360)



The Zipper Interactive game:

Massive Action Game or M.A.G. for short with 256 simultaneous online players per map.

Its 128 live soldiers PER SIDE ready to fire bullets at each other.

Raven HQ:



Commander Kukulcan your orders are to eliminate the enemy base that is twenty miles north of your position and prevent enemy reinforcements from using it anymore.



Commander Kukulcan: first platoon I want your squads at the northwest location on your HUD and wait there until I say that you can eliminate the power station next to the enemy base then link up with second platoon to enter the rear of the enemy base.



Commander Kukulcan: second platoon I want your squads at the northeast location of your HUD and wait there until I say that you can eliminate the enemy communications and sattelite dish networks close to the enemy base then I want you to link up with first platoon to enter the rear of the enemy base.



Commander Kukulcan: third platoon I want you to go to the north central chokepoint on your HUD and wait there and when i say go you leave squad one there and take squads two, three and four to attack the enemy base from the front , as soon as you loose your first jeep to enemy fire I want you to bugout like terrorfied newbs back to squad ones point.



Commander Kukulcan: fourth platoon i want squads one at one mile to the left of the HUD location of the chokepoint where third platoon is going and I want squad two one mile to the right of the HUD chokepoint where third platoon is going to be and I want squad three for basekeeping duties to keep us secure. I want squad four on sweep duty and capture for any enemy snipers so that the enemy does not discover our surprise at the choke point.



Twenty minutes later...............................



Commander Kukulcan: first and second platoons I see you are in position so wait until i give the go ahead



Commander Kukulcan: third platoon its party time so go in there and hit hard with no sniper cover and as soon as you loose your first jeep run back as fast as you can with squads two three and four to where squad one is holding the barn door.



Ten minutes later................



Commander Kukulcan: third platoon its bugout time and as soon as your three squads are past the chokepoint on the way back I want your platoon to deploy barbwire, antitankmines and punji sticks like they are going out of style to closeoff the chokepoint to enemy travel.



one minute later...............



Commander Kukulcan: third platoon the entire enemy base is driving every tank and jeep they have on your tail so move it, move it past the choke point.



Commander Kukulcan: first and second platoons its party time to takeout the enemy installations and base and then move towards the enemy convoy that just left the enemy base



ten minutes later.....................



Commander Kukulcan: third platoon hold at the chokepoint and fire at the enemy convoy when it gets there.



Commander Kukulcan: fourth platoon its party time as I want you to hit the left side of the enemy convoy with squad one and the right side with squad two as its time to box in the enemy convoy.



Commander Kukulcan: first and second platoons I want you to close off the rear escape point for the enemy troops and have fun racking up the kills.

More isnt always better, 256 people leaves a HUGE chance your gonna have a whole slew of complete fucktards playing with you that either suck at the game, play like a 5 year old, or just constantly drop out cause they arent winning. Personally id prefer a game with a lower player count and play with friends i actually know, but who knows.. if the squad within a team gameplay allows my squad to just be me and my friends, then it might be bearable, but this blind allegience to the all mighty number cap is rather ignorant and frankly juvenile.

But if it cuts down on light free or "dark" threads then I am for it.

And as soon as I can think up a reverse thread I am going to post it as I am getting tired of "soy" sauce in my thread sushi.

So... is there any actual footage of this game? I mean, the stuff they showed at E3 was pre-rendered so that doesn't count. I want to see actual gameplay with 256 actual players, no bots. Until then, this game is all bark and no bite

LOL. You have a point. Part of the reason is the server technology they are using for this, though.

It all comes down to PS3 being more powerful. The GPU is slightly weaker in some areas than the X360's, but the big power difference is in the CPU (and how it can interact with the GPU).

The XeCPU (Xenon) is pretty good. But, supposedly, 1 SPE runs rings around one of Xenon's cores (using decently written code). That means, using decently written code, 3 SPEs > Xenon's 3 cores (especially with a percentage of a XeCPU core used for running the OS). That leaves 3 SPEs and a PPE above and beyond Xenon's capabilities.

It sounds cool, but 256 people will never work out the way its intended. Its hard enough to get 16 people without a retard trying to screw things up for people because he has no friends.

Where did you buy your crystal ball from? In the end, we'll see. There is a definite chain of command established. I wonder if discipline will be handed out via the leaders (like the real military).

Let us talk about (real military).....video games will never be like real military...here is why.

In real miliary you have patrols...with squads (12-16 people) made up of fire teams (4 people) You have a point man, gunner, a gunner and fire team leader.

In video games, you have 4-8 people running around doing random things. 9 times out of 10 nobody listens to eachother. Usually at least 1 person is running around the field trying to snipe someone.

Now if you have 200 people..good luck. Expect about 40 snipers and still nobody listens to eachother...unless they all manage to be in a clan.

It might look cool, but Im betting there will be about 0 realisim..Much like Halo...and COD4.

Let me re-issue the point:

How many 360 games are 256 online players at the same time on the same map?

Zero.

How many 360 games with 256 online players in the same map and game are being developed?

Zero.

The point I always see tossed in every dark thread is the 360 is the best.
So lets put up or shut up.

And I am not asking equivalent performance since a few xbots constantly say that the 360 is better then lets see some 512 online players in the same map in the same game for 360.
