Best Buy replaced the 40gb and 80gb Bundle with the New 80gb. However, take a look...it states the following as a bullet:
Backward compatibility Lets you play PlayStation 2 and PlayStation games, DVDs and CDs, so you can merge all of your entertainment into one machine. Mistake? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1218005635152 |

I figured as much. I just thought it was strange they'd make that mistake, since they updated the rest of the bullets (DS3).

at first I thought this was something printed on the box but it is just a BestBuy website mistake.

This isnt exactly aimed at the PS3 or 360 in any way shape or form, as it never really meant anything to me anyways. But do you guys really care that much about BC, or do you just see it as a bonus feature? Just wondering because i tried a few of my old OG Xbox games and i had to turn them off immediately because the graphics for the last couple generations really dont age well.
just wondering. Like why play GT1, 2, and 3 when you can play prologue? Or why play halo 1 or 2, when you can play 3? I played Halo2 a month ago and when 3 came out i wasnt really blown away, but now after spending many months with 3, and seeing 2, it looks comical.

I had some fun playing ps2 games on by old 60gb pal model but I gave the 60gb up after buying a quieter 40GB model.
I missed the PS2 gen so I haven't really lost any critical games tbh. The 360's backwards compatability is worth it for me just for Panzer Dragoon Orta. If (most likely when) I get another 360, one of the first things I'll be doing is checking out the latest BC list. BC is a great value added feature IMO which I have enjoyed. I even have started a small ps1 collection for my ps3 which will only grow.

Yea, that's his point since the new 80gb is the same as the 40gb. But it's quieter than the old 80gb...which is louder (I guess?).

Does anybody else's PS3 sometimes kick on a really loud fan? I always hear about how quite the everybody's PS3 is but sometimes I get a really loud fan going for a 5-10 minute intervals. It's a 40GB model, anybody else experience this?

That mainly happens when the PS3 is doing CPU/GPU-heavy processing. You'll get it alot when doing DVD upconverting.

Yeah, my PS3 becomes pretty loud when it's hot in the apartment and it's doing something intensive like playing a game.

I have a ps1 collection too, but I play it on my psp. Playing ps1 games on the psp is the best, since there are only a few psp games worth playing besides crisis core and god of war.
